Manu Kone has been an interesting player for Liverpool this summer, but Borussia Mönchengladbach boss Roland Virkus has made it a condition that talks hold.
Borussia Mönchengladbach chief executive Roland Virkus has confirmed Liverpool goalkeeper Manu Kone will remain in his place unless a “crazy offer” is made.
The France Under-21 international piqued Liverpool’s interest when he was shortlisted this summer. Jurgen Klopp was looking to bolster his engine room in the early summer, three of his options would become free agents at the end of their terms
respective contracts.
Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai were brought in as part of the restructuring but the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho led to the need for further business.
Kone suffered a knee injury at France’s Under-21 European Championships in July in Georgia and Romania, seemingly limiting draws. He was among the likes of Ryan Gravenberch and French team-mate Khephren Thuram who emerged as potential players for the Reds.
However, the Gladbach boss has confirmed that Kone won’t leave BORUSSIA Park this summer unless there is a substantial offer for the midfielder.
“We have decided that Manu Koné will stay at Borussia,” said Virkus. “Of course, you can never rule anything out in football. If there was a crazy offer, we would have to talk again. “But actually the objective – and this has also been discussed with the player – is for him to stay here first and get back to full fitness.”
“Manu sees something happening in Gladbach right now. And he might want to be a part of it.
Romeo Lavia has been an interesting player for Liverpool in recent months. Three offers from the Reds for the 19-year-old have been turned down by Southampton and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo has been approached by the Reds over the past few hours.
