After missing his rookie season due to a torn ACL, DeMarvion Overshown is making up for lost time. Heading into Week 14, the Dallas Cowboys linebacker has recorded 84 tackles, five sacks, three pass defenses, and one interception.
That single interception led to a touchdown for Overshown, which occurred in front of a large audience. During the Thanksgiving Day game against the New York Giants, Overshown tipped a pass from Drew Lock into the air, grabbed it for the interception, and returned it for a touchdown.
On Thursday, Overshown analyzed the play for the team’s social media. The second-year linebacker eagerly walked through the sequence, demonstrating his sharp awareness on the field, rather than just relying on raw talent.

He began by crediting Mike Zimmer for adjusting the play-calling and sending a blitz. However, instead of rushing directly at the quarterback, Overshown observed the offensive alignment, which left him matched up one-on-one with the running back.
He found the situation “fishy” and noticed Devin Singletary letting him pass. From there, he tracked Drew Lock’s eyes, anticipating a screen, which was exactly the play Lock intended to run.

Jerry Jones says the Dallas Cowboys locker room is not lost
After 11 weeks, the 2024 Dallas Cowboys season appears to be a failure. With a 3-7 record and five consecutive losses, the Cowboys have only a 1% chance of reaching the playoffs, according to NFL.com.
The team’s primetime loss to the Houston Texans on Monday left owner and general manager Jerry Jones thinking similarly to the rest of the sports world. “We just aren’t playing well, and it’s several things,” he remarked after the game.
There are issues at every position, and injuries have compounded the problems. Seeing quarterback Dak Prescott on crutches emphasized that the team’s hope for a successful season faded when he underwent hamstring surgery. Nevertheless, his teammates appreciated his presence.
“It shows his selflessness. It speaks volumes to the person, the player, and the leader that Dak is,” said wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.
Unfortunately, Prescott’s support didn’t help backup QB Cooper Rush and the Cowboys’ offense. Rush completed just 56.5% of his passes (13 of 23) for 45 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles. The following week, against the Texans, he threw for 354 yards but completed only 58.2% (32 of 55) of his passes. The offense managed just 10 points, all in the first half.
Running back Rico Dowdle couldn’t find any success on the ground, and the Cowboys almost doubled their pass attempts compared to Rush’s first start. Despite this, third-string QB Trey Lance seems no closer to making his first start in Dallas.
“I would look for us to stay with the experience,” Jones stated.
While the Cowboys could use major changes, they won’t come from the coaching staff this season. The front office remains supportive of head coach Mike McCarthy. According to Jones, the locker room is not lost.
“I can tell you right now with the kind of careers a bunch of those guys have, the kind of prospects of their futures, the kind of competitors they are, I don’t worry one ounce about losing anything as far as in the family of losing the team,” Jones explained.
