Harvey Elliott sends Instagram message to £40million player, after claims Liverpool want him

Harvey Elliott has asked Levi Colwill to “have a chat” with him after the defender was linked at Liverpool.

Colwill is reportedly weighing his options ahead of a return to Chelsea this summer, with many saying Liverpool are big fans.

However, before returning to Cobham, the 20-year-old will play for England at the Under-21 European Championship. And after qualifying for the final last night with a 2-0 win over Israel, Colwill took to Instagram to share his joy .

“One last push! Towards the final,” wrote the Chelsea man. Liverpool’s number 19 was also among the players to cross the finish line.

Elliott is a tournament teammate with Colwill, so that really could mean anything. But it’s easy to see why his ‘let’s chat’ comment should be read in the context of Liverpool’s interest in the defender.

Elliott followed up his cheeky remark with an endorsement from his English colleague.
“Any player,” added the 20-year-old.

Liverpool ready to increase interest in Colwill

With Elliott and Colwill touring the UK together, it’s probably unwise to read too much into such comments. But reports linking the Chelsea man to Liverpool have been hard to ignore in recent days. The noise gets louder.

As a result, and knowing how brazen Elliott can be, it seems to me that this is a thing

Unfortunately for Liverpool fans, it will make little difference no matter how many conversations Colwill has with Elliott. The Blues were already ready to fend off offers of around £40m for the England defender [Football London].

At the moment, Chelsea are absolutely determined not to sell their academy graduate. As long as they promise Colwill a decent amount of football next season, that should do the trick for now.

However, it has been claimed that Liverpool are ready to splash the big bucks on the youngster if encouraged to do so.

If the Blues fail to convince Colwill he is in their plans, that could be the trigger the Reds are looking for. It’s always helpful for players to tout the benefits of joining your club. So if Liverpool really think they have a chance here, they should urge Elliott to get his team-mate’s attention.
