Liverpool are expected to add even more quality to their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
Liverpool are reportedly looking for at least three more signings, including two new central midfielders, before the summer transfer window closes in early September.
The Reds have already boosted their squad with the signing of Alexis Mac Allister, who arrived from Brighton earlier this month for a reduced fee of around £35m.
It seems likely that many more players will follow Mac Allister through the Anfield goal this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to address the weaknesses that saw Liverpool miss out on Champions League qualification at the end of last season.
According to The Athletic, the Reds could make up to three signings in the coming weeks, with two more midfielders at the top of their shopping list.
Liverpool have already made it their main priority to sign Mac Allister at Merseyside this summer, but it would come as no surprise if the Argentinian playmaker is joined by a pair of new midfielders from now to the start of next season.
The Reds are said to always wait at least a few weeks before making any further moves, with the international window still closed until early next month.
The European Under-21 Championships under way in Romania and Georgia have also interrupted work for Liverpool, with several of their key goals in action throughout the tournament later this month.
The likes of Khephren Thuram, Manu Kone, Gabri Veiga and Ryan Gravenberch are involved and while Newcastle have already proved that business can be done in that situation by completing a move for Sandro Tonali, that deal would be an exception to the general rule.
