NASCAR star exposes surprising trash talk from Jordan

NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace has shared that team owner Michael Jordan frequently engages in friendly trash talk with him. Wallace, who races the #23 car for 23XI Racing—a team co-founded by Jordan and fellow NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin—notes that the six-time NBA champion often shows up to support both him and teammate Tyler Reddick. Most recently, Jordan was at Homestead-Miami, where Reddick’s victory in the #45 car secured him a spot in the championship four.

Despite not qualifying for the playoffs this year, Wallace provided insight into what it’s like to work for such a legendary figure.

Bubba Wallace shares stories about Michael Jordan’s trash talk

Discussing Jordan in an interview with Fox News, Wallace stated, “He’s competitive. He’s a lot of fun, he’s a guy that you can take jabs at, and he’ll dish it right back, so you have to have thick skin. That’s how I was brought up and raised, and trash talk is half the game, and he’s probably one of the best to do it.”

Wallace also mentioned Jordan’s more caring side. Since the birth of Wallace’s first child, a son named Becks, in September, Jordan has been checking in on him. “He just keeps asking if I’m getting enough sleep,” Wallace explained. “Surprisingly enough, we are getting sleep. Becks sleeps pretty good, most nights.”

NASCAR Truck Series driver banned for deliberately causing a crash with a competitor

Conner Jones

NASCAR announced on Wednesday that Truck Series driver Conner Jones has been suspended for Friday’s race at Martinsville due to intentionally crashing Matt Mills at Homestead. Mills was hospitalized for two nights because of smoke inhalation following the incident. Jones collided with Mills’ truck in Turns 1 and 2, sending him into the wall, which caused Mills’ truck to catch fire.

Jones, 18, expressed in a post-race statement that he “let my frustration get the best of me” and admitted he “underestimated the impact my actions would have on Matt, and I deeply regret the consequences that followed.”

Jones has been competing part-time for ThorSport Racing this season and was set to participate in Friday’s race before the suspension.

Mills, who is racing full-time in the Truck Series, currently sits 23rd in the points standings with two races remaining in the 2024 season. The Martinsville race is the last semifinal round before the championship race in Phoenix on Nov. 8. Mills shared a video on social media after the crash, thanking fans for their support and describing it as the “scariest situation” he’s encountered.
