Prediction & Picks – NFL, Dallas Cowboys vs Atlanta Falcon

Prediction & Picks - NFL, Dallas Cowboys vs Atlanta Falcon

The Dallas Cowboys aim to turn their season around this week as they head to Atlanta to face Kirk Cousins and the Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.

What started as a promising season has plummeted in the first half. The offense has struggled significantly in the running game, averaging a league-low 74 yards per game. While Dak Prescott has occasionally found success in the passing game, he often opts for safer, low-risk plays rather than pushing the ball downfield. When they do find themselves in scoring position, they frequently have to settle for field goals.

The defense has not fared much better, allowing over 150 rushing yards per game, with four games exceeding 180 and two over 200. Interestingly, all three of Dallas’s victories this season have come on the road.

So, do they have the Falcons in a favorable position?

Atlanta has a 2-3 record at home and was recently dominated by the Seattle Seahawks, losing 34-14. In that game, Kirk Cousins went 24-for-25, accumulating 232 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

Prediction for Cowboys vs. Falcons
The Cowboys struggle to run the ball effectively, lacking a reliable running back and facing challenges with their offensive line. They also cannot stop the run, leading fans to anticipate that Kirk Cousins might exploit the Dallas secondary. However, expect a heavy dose of Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier. If Dallas can prioritize the downfield passing game and target CeeDee Lamb frequently, they might create some intrigue. Yet, Mike McCarthy still believes in developing a run game this year.

Prediction: Falcons -3

Cowboys deemed ‘ideal match’ to acquire Jets $10 million WR in trade deadline deal

Mike Williams

The Dallas Cowboys possess a talented roster, but this hasn’t translated into as many victories as the team had hoped for this season.

With a current record of 3-4, Dallas sits in third place in the NFC East. The upcoming schedule is challenging, featuring games against the Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, and Houston Texans, but there remains optimism in Dallas.

Given their talent, the Cowboys might explore the trade deadline for additional support. The deadline is on Nov. 5, and many players could be available. According to Bleacher Report’s Scott Polacek, the Cowboys are the “best fit” to acquire New York Jets receiver Mike Williams.

“Best Fit: Dallas Cowboys,” Polacek stated. “The writing seemed to be on the wall for Williams’ time with the New York Jets as soon as the AFC East team traded for (Davante Adams). After all, the combination of Adams, Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Breece Hall, and Braelon Allen is a lot of playmakers for quarterback Aaron Rodgers to keep happy without even worrying about Williams’ role in the offense…”

“Something has to change for a Dallas team that is just 3-4 and coming off two straight losses.” One of these defeats was a significant 47-9 loss to the Detroit Lions, marking the Cowboys’ second blowout loss of the year after a 44-19 setback against the New Orleans Saints in Week 2.

CeeDee Lamb is expected to attract much of the defensive focus, potentially creating opportunities for another receiver to capitalize on one-on-one matchups downfield. Williams has demonstrated his ability as a deep threat before and might regain that form with a fresh environment.

Dallas could benefit from a boost, and Williams may be an economical option to achieve that. Why not?
