Premier League is about to confirm major broadcast adjustment that will affect Everton and Liverpool

Major broadcast changes are reportedly underway which will affect both Liverpool’s and Everton’s schedules

The Premier League is about to carry out a major overhaul of its broadcast rights strategy by showing every Sunday game live on television from the start of the 2024/25 season.

According to Mail Sport, top chefs can deliver 270 more matches per season than the current 200 matches per season. It would also see a wider variety of start times throughout the day, from 12pm to 7pm.

The move would also result in an increase in the number of matches taking place on Friday and Monday nights.

Ultimately, it’s about making a more attractive bid so that broadcasters bid higher during the bidding round to take control of the Premier League’s TV rights between 2024 and 2027.

The current deal is worth £5bn over three years and was agreed in 2018 before being extended without another auction during the Covid-19 pandemic.

There will be a big advantage for some clubs, namely those occupying places in the Europa League – like Liverpool currently – or the Europa Conference League.

They would experience a large cash boost as the league would have to ease their participation in the continental competition by moving their next fixtures to Sunday.

This would mean they would have two televised matches in four days, grossing £1m per league match under current fixture fee payments.

Ahead of the next round of TV rights, usual messers Sky Sports and TNT Sport (rebranded as BT Sport) are expected to roll out big deals, while streaming services Amazon, Apple TV and Disney+ remain interested.
