In a live update on the NFL scene, Tom Brady, despite having retired from playing, remains a powerful force in the league. As a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, Brady is already influencing the team’s direction. The latest rumor is that he’s eyeing a bold move to reshape the franchise by targeting a top coaching candidate: Ben Johnson, the offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions.
Ben Johnson has been a revelation this season, helping transform Detroit’s offense into one of the NFL’s most potent units. Under his leadership, quarterback Jared Goff has thrived, showcasing the impressive results of Johnson’s strategic mind. With such a strong track record, it’s no surprise that his name is rising rapidly in coaching circles.
The Raiders are seeking a fresh start after the midseason firing of head coach Josh McDaniels, and Johnson appears to be the man Brady believes can lead them back to prominence. The Raiders, despite having star players like Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs, have struggled to find offensive consistency, and Johnson’s innovative, efficient offensive schemes might be exactly what they need.
Brady, with his unmatched championship pedigree, isn’t just identifying coaching talent—he’s setting the stage for a major shift in the Raiders’ fortunes. His endorsement of Johnson, whose creative approach has already caught the attention of NFL insiders, signals a bold vision for the future of the Las Vegas franchise.
As the Lions push for a playoff spot, Ben Johnson’s reputation continues to rise, but Brady’s influence in the Raiders’ decision-making process is undeniable. If Brady’s vision comes to fruition, the Raiders could soon be on the path to long-awaited success.

NFL Rumors: Insiders Believe Ben Johnson Could Remain with Lions; HC Talk Not Seen as ‘Leverage’
Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson continues to be one of the most sought-after coaching candidates in the NFL for the third consecutive year. However, it appears he could remain in his current role with the Lions once again, despite the growing interest in his services.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, there is no certainty that Johnson will take a head coaching position this year. He has consistently shown hesitancy to leave Detroit, and some league sources believe he could return to the Lions for another season.
Fowler stated, “Some people I talked to in the league believe Johnson could return to Detroit. And it doesn’t seem like a leverage play. That’s where he has been the past two cycles, and that could be the case again if his ideal head coaching destination isn’t there.”
Adding to the speculation, Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz reported on Wednesday that Johnson has scheduled virtual interviews with multiple teams: the Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots on Friday, and the Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday. While each of these teams offers a unique opportunity, Johnson has never been eager to make the leap from offensive coordinator to head coach without the right fit.
The 38-year-old coach addressed this decision-making process back in May, telling Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, “I’m not going to do it just to do it. I love what I’m doing right now. Love it. Love it. I love where I’m at. My family loves where we’re at. Love the people that we’re doing it with, and so I’m not willing to go down the other path yet unless I feel really good about how it’s going to unfold.”
If Johnson ultimately decides to stay in Detroit for another year, many fans will likely be disappointed by the missed opportunity to land one of the most innovative offensive minds in football today.
