Tottenham looking at ‘unbelievable’ forward Pochettino wanted at Spurs, according to a report

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to strengthen their squad after a disappointing 2022/23 season.

New Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou is tasked with bringing the Lilywhites back to the heights they reached under Mauricio Pochettino.

Last season Tottenham finished a poor eighth in the Premier League table and again failed to lift a trophy.

According to a report from The Athletic, the new Spurs manager is now on the hunt for a player that Pochettino was apparently looking for in 2019.

They claim Spurs are considering West Ham United striker Jarrod Bowen as a possible alternative to Harvey Barnes.

However, the report highlighted that “it is accepted that West Ham are unlikely to sell the 26-year-old”.

In January 2019, The Mirror reported that then-Tottenham manager Pochettino had his eye on Bowen.

He was playing for Hull City at the time and his price was said to have been around £12million.

Last year, reports suggested West Ham put a £75m price tag on Bowen in a bid to deter Liverpool.

Our point of view

Tottenham could certainly strengthen their attacking ranks and Bowen is a top player. In fact, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has previously described him as ‘incredible’.

However, “unlikely to sell” is an understatement, to say the least.
Let’s face it, Spurs probably have a better chance of signing Erling Haaland than Bowen.

As we all know, there is a huge rivalry between Tottenham and the Hammers and Bowen is currently Mr West Ham.

The consequences for fans if he sold him to Spurs would be unimaginable. The club and the players probably won’t go there.

Moreover, Tottenham are not in Europe next season as the Hammers play in the Europa League.

Spurs would have a much better chance of signing Barnes.
He will probably be sold and he wouldn’t budge from a fierce rival.
