According to Gazzetta dello Sport (page 3), Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio is planning a meeting with Manchester United against goalkeeper Andre Onana.
The Red Devils have identified the 27-year-old as their number one target for the goalkeeping role. David de Gea could leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the month.
Talks have already taken place between United and Onana’s agent Albert Botines. It is now reported that Ausilio has scheduled a meeting with the Red Devils and Botines on Friday.
Inter are aiming for 50 million euros plus extras to part ways with the Cameroonian champion. If the negotiations go smoothly, an agreement can be reached within 48 hours.
United in talks to secure agreement with Onana
Onana was designated as Ten Hag’s favorite shooter. You worked with the Dutch tactician at Ajax for four and a half seasons before joining Inter last summer.
A reunion could soon become a reality, but it depends on what United’s offer is on the table. The payment structure could be crucial as Inter want most of the fee up front.
The Nerazzurri are aiming to sign Romelu Lukaku outright from Chelsea and intend to use the money from Onana’s departure to negotiate with the Blues.
Onana is a no-brainer signing for United. He has all the qualities that befit a coach. He has strong reflexes, is good with distributing him and is very mobile in the tank.
The Cameroonian can also act as a free goalkeeper to nullify counter-attack situations against his club. He is willing to take risks by stepping out of his cage.
He would be a perfect asset to United between the sticks. The fans hope that the club can find an agreement in the next meeting with Ausilio.
