Live transfer news: Rice to Arsenal agreement, Man Utd bid of £43m, Liverpool medical

Express Sport keeps you up to date with the latest transfer news

The summer transfer window has now been open for two weeks and is already starting to be one of the busiest we’ve seen. One of the busiest teams is Arsenal, who have already bagged Kai Havertz for £65m and are expected to add Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice to their earnings in the coming days.

The structure of a deal for Rice is still under negotiation, but Timber to Arsenal is reportedly a deal done with the Gunners looking to complete the player’s medical next week. Meanwhile, Chelsea have been very active in terms of spending.

They have already moved on to the likes of Havertz, Kalidou Koulibaly, Mateo Kovacic and Edouardo Mendy in a desperate attempt to recoup money from previous heavy spending. And it seems Cesar Azpilicueta has entered advanced talks with Athletico Madrid about a return to Spain this summer.

The other big news this morning is that Manchester United are making a £43.8m offer, including add-ons for Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana. Inter Milan are reportedly seeking a £43m base fee before bonuses kick in, very close to United’s initial offer.

United ‘offer’ for Hojlund

According to the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Manchester United have reportedly rejected a £30m offer from Atalanta for striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The Dane is one of the names on United’s shortlist, but the club appear to be deciding who will go after them. The report said Atalanta are seeking at least £40m before they intend to finalize a deal.

Hojlund wants the transfer but recently denied sharing a video call with Erik ten Hag.

Havertz is now Arsenal’s ‘best earner’

Bild in Germany says Kai Havertz has become Arsenal’s top earner at £330,000 a week.

While those reports have not been confirmed in England, if correct, they would show the enormous confidence Mikel Arteta has in his new signing.
There is hope that Declan Rice will also join West Ham soon, now that the deal is nearly done. Arsenal are also set to seal the deal for Jurrien Timber from Ajax.

Leicester sign Coady

Conor Coady has joined Leicester from Wolves on a permanent deal.
The defender was part of the Everton squad that kept the Toffees in the Premier League last season, but Sean Dyche opted not to trigger the club’s option to buy.

From now on, Coady will stay in the Midlands and prepare to lead Leicester’s promotion squad.
He will also be joined by Harry Winks at the King Power Stadium.

The England Under-21 star is excited for extra competition in the middle of the park next season as he begins a life-threatening streak with the Gunners.

He told The Sun: “I see what is happening and obviously it is good for the club to strengthen the squad.

I feel like the additions we’re making will really push the team forward again.
“It’s really exciting, so hopefully next season we can take it one step further.
“Of course (it’s extra competition with the arrival of Havertz), but this is football.”

Arsenal in for Mbappé

According to Footballtransfers.com, Arsenal are considering a transfer for Kylian Mbappé.

The Frenchman is expected to leave PSG this summer and many top clubs around the world are watching his situation. His contract expires next summer so it’s understood the French giants will try to sign him during the current window in order to generate some cash for the player.
Real Madrid remain favorites to sign.

Tielemans confirmed at Villa

Aston Villa have this morning confirmed the signing of Youri Tielemans from Leicester on a free transfer.
The Belgian midfielder said: “When I had a few talks with the manager, I was impressed with his ambition, his passion and the way he led the team, which prompted me to join Aston. Villa.”
“It’s a big club. I am very excited. I am eager to. I am excited to begin.

Rice at Arsenal ready?
Declan Rice’s imminent move to Arsenal could be a foregone conclusion.
West Ham have removed the option to purchase a ‘Rice 41’ shirt from the club’s official online shop.
And this would indicate that their captain’s move to the Gunners is almost imminent…

Szoboszlai midical

Fabrizio Romano announces that Dominik Szoboszlai will undergo the first part of his medical at Liverpool today. The Reds have complied with the RB Leipzig attacking midfielder’s £60m release clause and are closing the deal in a hurry. Szoboszlai scored 20 goals and provided 21 assists in 91 appearances for the German team and is highly regarded around the world.

The Rice deal is approaching

Declan Rice’s move to Arsenal nears as talks continue on the structure of the deal.

A £105m fee has been agreed, although both sides are still trying to reach a compromise on when the installments for the £100m base fee will be paid.

According to talkSPORT’s Jim White, the talks are still ongoing but are expected to be completed early next week. Man Utd offer £44m for Onana

Manchester United are preparing an opening bid for Andre Onana which is estimated at £38.7m plus add-ons worth £4.3m.

Inter Milan are hoping to secure at least £43million in base fees for their goalkeeper before any bonuses are even considered. It looks like the two teams aren’t particularly far apart in their assessment of the player and should close the deal soon.

 closed the deal

Cesar Azpilicueta is almost certainly on his way to Athletico Madrid. The Spanish giants are currently in advanced talks with the defender with the deal expected to be finalized next week. Azpilicueta is Chelsea’s longest-serving player, having joined the club in 2012. During that time, he won two Premier League titles, a Champions League, a League Cup and two FA Cups with the Blues.

A verbal agreement has been reached between Arsenal and Ajax for Jurrien Timber, with paperwork due to be completed after Saturday.
Timber will undergo a medical with the Gunners early next week. The player is said to be using Ajax’s gym to get in shape ahead of his trip to London.
