Liverpool transfer news, rumours, gossip and speculation including the latest on Fabinho, Jurgen Klopp, Jordan Henderson, Kalvin Phillips, Kylian Mbappe, Moises Caicedo, Thiago Alcantara, Florentino Luis, Nicolo Barella, Romeo Lavia and more
The Reds have flown to Germany for the next phase of their Premier League preparation. During their stay in the homeland of Jürgen Klopp, they meet Karlsruhe and Greuther Fürth.
But midfielder Fabinho is not at Liverpool. He was allowed to speak with Al Ittihad after the Saudi Pro League club made a £40million bid for the Brazilian. The 29-year-old did not travel with the squad on Saturday. However, Jordan Henderson did, despite continued speculation of a move to Al Ettifaq.
With speculation abounding over the Reds’ midfield pairing, alternatives are being mentioned, including Benfica’s Florentino Luis and Inter Milan’s Nicolò Barella.
Caicedo claim
According to the Mail, Brighton & Hove Albion plan to include their midfielder Moises Caicedo in their squad, which leaves for the United States on Monday.
The report goes on to say that the 21-year-old has been the subject of interest from Chelsea and Liverpool, but neither club has come close to Brighton’s asking price of £100m.
The report goes on to say that Chelsea remain in talks over a potential deal for Caicedo, but Southampton’s Romeo Lavia is on the shortlist as an alternative.
Thiago’s “Prize” unveiled
Liverpool have reportedly announced their price for midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
According to Spanish publication El Nacional, Barcelona are aware that a move for the former Bayern Munich star would cost them 12 million euros.
The report also claims that Barca’s sporting management team mentioned Thiago’s name several times.
El Nacional’s report comes just days after another Spanish publication, SPORT, claimed that Liverpool are unwilling to sell Thiago this summer but are ready to listen to any reasonable offer for the Spain international.
Luis “consideration”
Liverpool could look to Florentino Luis as a viable option to replace Fabinho. That’s according to journalist Neil Jones, who believes Luis could be an option if the Reds consider who should replace the Brazilian. The 23-year-old made 86 appearances for Benfica and impressed last season.
While the Express reports that the Portuguese midfielder’s contract includes a £103m release clause. They also say that Luis has suitors from all over Europe after his impressive season in La Liga Portugal.
Marcos Llorente is the subject of a move to Liverpool
The transfer window would not be complete without aircraft tracking and Wikipedia edits. Marcos Llorente was struck by this last Saturday as Liverpool fans used their magic to tempt fate.
Fabinho’s potential departure leaves a void in the midfield and many believe the Atlético Madrid midfielder could be the man to fill that void.
So much so that his Wikipedia page was changed to show he plays for Liverpool. He would eventually be changed.
Romeo Lavia problem for Liverpool
Arsenal are set to sell Thomas Partey as the midfielder is expected to be the last player to join the Saudi Pro League. Sascha Tavolieri said this could put Arsenal back in pursuit of Romeo Lavia.
He says Lavia is the main option for the Gunners who won’t hesitate to go to the Belgian.
