Latest Liverpool transfer rumors as Kylian Mbappe contacted by Reds plus updates on Jordan Henderson, Thiago, Fede Valverde, Romeo Lavia and Cheick Doucour
Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson is closing in on a move away from Anfield this summer, but that has only fueled speculation over his replacement.
The 33-year-old completed his Manchester medical on Friday before joining Al Ettifaq for £12million. Henderson’s move would end his 12-year tenure at Liverpool as he joins the man he replaced as Reds captain Steven Gerrard.
There is also speculation over his midfield partner Fabinho over his future. The Brazilian hasn’t traveled to Germany with Jurgen Klopp’s side after receiving a £40million offer from Al Ittihad, also from the Saudi Pro League. In recent days, however, Bayern Munich are said to be keeping tabs on the deal with Nuno Espirito Santo and Liverpool’s side in case talks break down.
Kylian Mbappe’s future remains a mystery as Liverpool remain linked. And with the Reds expecting two more midfield departures, speculation over their respective replacements continues to swirl.
Kylian Mbappe
According to Football Transfers, Liverpool are interested in striker Kylian Mbappe.
The PSG striker is embroiled in another saga as his future at the Ligue 1 club remains uncertain. Mbappe has already revealed he doesn’t want to play with the Parisians beyond 2024. This fueled further speculation which eventually led to the club banning the striker from his Japan tour.
Football Transfers claims Liverpool have been in contact with Mbappe’s representatives over the move. However, they are financially unable to compete with clubs like Arsenal who would also be interested.
The report correlates with an admission by Ian Graham, the Reds’ former director of research, who pointed out that the striker’s transfer was financially outside the league from Liverpool.
Media like SPORT from Spain have hinted that PSG are open to striker offers this summer. Real Madrid are widely believed to be the favourites, but Sport added that Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have all been calling for Mbappé.
L’Equipe, meanwhile, said Real Madrid are happy to wait until the French international’s contract expires next summer.
Fede Valverde
According to El Nacional, Liverpool could rekindle their interest in Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde.
Real Madrid are on the hunt for Kylian Mbappé, in a highly publicized story about the PSG star. It has been argued that leaving the Frenchman out to tour Japan could open the door for a move to Los Blancos. With potential finances involved in the Mbappé deal, the Spanish outlet said it could pave the way for a possible Real Madrid sale.
El Nacional goes on to add that Liverpool are “obsessed” with the Uruguayan and could sign Valverde for €80m.
Romeo Lavia
Fabrizio Romano has said Liverpool are working on a deal to sign Romeo Lavia.
He reported that the Reds are trying to ‘understand’ the price of a deal, but that’s not the only objective of Jurgen Klopp’s team. Although a concrete target and player Liverpool are working on a deal to bring to Anfield, it has been hinted. Elsewhere, it has been reported that Liverpool hope to complete a deal for Romeo Lavia by the end of the month.
