Liverpool continue their efforts to sign Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia and may even now be ahead of the rest in the race to do so.
Lavia is one of the main midfield targets for a number of clubs this summer. Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are believed to have the youngster at the top of their lists.
But while there is plenty of interest, The Independent says it is in fact Liverpool who are ahead of the chasing pack when it comes to signing the midfielder.
The Independent says that while Arsenal were initially favorites for Lavia, it is now the Reds who have moved on. Liverpool are pushing for a new midfielder after Jordan Henderson and Fabinho cleared departures for Saudi Arabia.
The same report claims that the Reds are now planning to make an improved offer for Lavia. Southampton are believed to be aiming for around £50m and have taken a tough stance so far.
