Liverpool took the lead against Chelsea in the Premier League opening but were lucky enough to score a point at Stamford Bridge. The Reds were open at the back and it took great saves from Alisson and poor finishing from the Blues for the game to end in a 1-1 draw. Jurgen Klopp hasn't improved his defense at all this summer and unfortunately the situation is even worse now that two defensive midfielders, Fabinho and Henderson, are out. To bolster their defence, the Merseysiders have brought in the services of French international and Bayern Munich star Benjamin Pavard. Yesterday Sport Bild reported that Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in signing the Blues defender. The Old Trafford club had even made a first offer, which was rejected by the German champions. According to report Liverpool disappointed as £25m defender agrees to join Man United The blow to Liverpool is Pavard agreeing a move to Man United. According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the 27-year-old has verbally agreed to join the Red Devils. As today's The Mirror revealed, after the initial offer was rejected, Ten Hag's side are pushing for talks to sign the multi-faceted star, who is believed to be worth around £25million of pounds sterling. Trent Alexander-Arnold proved again yesterday that he is a liability at right-back and we need a proven full-back to reinforce that position. Pavard has the quality and experience to bolster the defense of any team. He can effectively play the roles of RB and CB. However, it looks like Old Trafford is his preferred destination, much to the dismay of Anfield fans.

According to report Liverpool can sign top midfielder thanks to bargain release clause

Liverpool are turning their attention to a highly rated midfielder who is available for a fraction of what Moises Caicedo would have cost

Liverpool could benefit from a cut-price buyout clause as they seek to bolster their midfield with a phenomenal defensive midfielder.

It was a grueling few days for the Reds, who looked to have taken Mosies Caicedo past Chelsea, but the Blues eventually beat their rivals. Caicedo is believed to be set to become a UK transfer record at around £115million.

Klopp couldn’t resist a dig at Chelsea after the two drew 1-1 on the Premier League opener – but the Liverpool manager could still find a coveted No.6 to bolster his midfield anyway.

According to ESPN NL, Liverpool are interested in PSV star Ibrahim Sangare, who has been impressing since joining the Eredivisie. The former Manchester City star’s brother Kiki Musampa is now representing Sangare – Musampa having recently admitted interest from the Merseysiders.

Both Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are said to be interested in Sangare – but if Klopp personally agrees with the Ivory Coast midfielder, he could be significantly cheaper than Caicedo.

With the arrival of Cody Gakpo from PSV in the previous January transfer window, the Reds already have a star who knows Sangare so well. The 25-year-old can play as the sole defensive midfielder or up front in a 4-3-3 formation and would provide much-needed protection to the back four.

Liverpool have reportedly offered over £100million for Caicedo, meaning signing Sangare would allow them to buy another player or two before the transfer window starts.
