Liverpool have been struggling with some injuries this weekend.
The 3-1 win over Bournemouth may have been marred primarily by a red card for Alexis Mac Allister, but the Reds also saw Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz take shots.
Jurgen Klopp spoke about the duo ahead of next week’s trip to Newcastle.
The Liverpool manager also gave the latest on the return from injury of Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic.
Trent Alexander Arnold
Klopp replaced Alexander-Arnold late in Saturday’s win and spoke to the player about an apparent injury when he limped. The right-back described the knock as “painful” but is not expected to miss the match against Newcastle with the injury from the impact.
“I hope so,” Klopp replied when asked if Alexander-Arnold will be okay.
“He told me that he had a rather painful kick. But as far as a twist or fall, it was a thrill. That’s why we changed then, but I hope he’s okay.”
Luis Diaz
There were also fears for Colombian winger Diaz who went off at Anfield in the dying minutes after being treated for a knock.
When asked about Diaz following his stellar goal, Klopp brushed off his player’s possible injury to suggest not much was going on. “Obviously as long as it was fresh and everything, it was great,” he said. “A massive threat to everyone. He’s in for a good time, there’s no doubt about it.”
Thiago Alcantara
The veteran playmaker is back in training after a hip injury ended his 2022/23 season early.
Liverpool could prepare him for action soon, but no deadline has been set. Last week, Klopp described Thiago as ‘really close but not there yet’ in terms of a comeback.
Stefan Bajcetic
For the first time since March, teenage midfielder Bajcetic returned to the Liverpool squad this weekend. After coming on as an unused substitute against Bournemouth, he wrote on social media: “It was so good to see you back home!” Hopefully soon on the pitch.”

According to report Liverpool disappointed as £25m defender agrees to join Man United
Liverpool took the lead against Chelsea in the Premier League opening but were lucky enough to score a point at Stamford Bridge.
The Reds were open at the back and it took great saves from Alisson and poor finishing from the Blues for the game to end in a 1-1 draw.
Jurgen Klopp hasn’t improved his defense at all this summer and unfortunately the situation is even worse now that two defensive midfielders, Fabinho and Henderson, are out.
To bolster their defence, the Merseysiders have brought in the services of French international and Bayern Munich star Benjamin Pavard.
Yesterday Sport Bild reported that Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in signing the Blues defender. The Old Trafford club had even made a first offer, which was rejected by the German champions.
The blow to Liverpool is Pavard agreeing a move to Man United. According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the 27-year-old has verbally agreed to join the Red Devils.
As today’s The Mirror revealed, after the initial offer was rejected, Ten Hag’s side are pushing for talks to sign the multi-faceted star, who is believed to be worth around £25million of pounds sterling.
Trent Alexander-Arnold proved again yesterday that he is a liability at right-back and we need a proven full-back to reinforce that position. Pavard has the quality and experience to bolster the defense of any team. He can effectively play the roles of RB and CB. However, it looks like Old Trafford is his preferred destination, much to the dismay of Anfield fans.
