'I can confirm': Mauricio Pochettino says the 23-year-old will play for Chelsea in the EFL Cup tomorrow

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Chelsea captain Reece James will return to the starting line-up tomorrow.

He said in his pre-match press conference that he is ready to return even if he does not want to be selected for England any longer.
James has started just one game this season, on the opening day of the season against Liverpool.

Since then, he has had a difficult road to recovery, encountering several setbacks.
It’s already been more than two months since my first injury.

But the good news is that the 23-year-old has been back on the pitch in recent weeks as he looks to be back for good rather than a temporary comeback.

He has been introduced from the bench in the last two games, with his debut against Brentford particularly crucial.

James replaced popular centre-back Axel Disasi, who struggled to cope with the attacking duties of a right-back role.
James starts tomorrow.

Now Pochettino has revealed that tomorrow will be his first start as Chelsea captain since his life-threatening injury.
He said: “I can confirm it will start.
I just want to confirm a player.
But yes, the captain is ready.
It’s good for the team that it starts the game from the beginning”.

In his press conference, Pochettino appeared to be taking tomorrow’s trip to Stamford Bridge seriously, despite their relegated opponents.
Blackburn Rovers will be the visitors, a Championship side who have performed well in the competition so far.

If not Manchester City, many other teams have a real chance of adding silverware to their collection this season.
