Houston Texans sign UFL Defensive End With great Potential

The Texans are still building their training camp roster.

The NFL’s training camp is almost here, which means teams are starting to round out their rosters by adding players. The Houston Texans went to the UFL to sign a defensive end in anticipation of camp.

UFL’s media department reports that defensive end Malik Fisher of the D.C. Defenders was signed by the Texans to the team’s 90-man roster; however, Fisher’s UFL rights will remain with the Defenders.

Fisher played with the Defenders in 2023 after being selected undrafted out of Villanova. In 10 games, he recorded 3 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

The contract that Fisher signed provides him with security because, should he not make the Texans’ 53-man roster, he can rejoin the Defenders in the UFL.

With Will Anderson Jr. on one end and Danielle Hunter on the other, the Texans have star power at defensive end. The group will still search for more depth behind those two. The remaining players are Solomon Byrd, a seventh-round selection, Derek Barnett, Dylan Horton, and Jerry Hughes.

Next season, the Texans’ defensive end group might be one of the best position groups on the club. It’s a wise decision to increase the depth of the defensive ends for camp, as it will aid in their individual growth and game improvement.

The Texans want to assemble a team that can compete for a Super Bowl when they report to training camp. They may assess depth and possible pieces during the camp, and their stars and starters can polish their skills in front of a major campaign.

Anderson Jr. will be the cornerstone of the defence, and second-year standout quarterback CJ Stroud and his offence will be under a lot of pressure. As he begins his second season as the team’s head coach, DeMeco Ryans is faced with a significant opportunity.
