QB for the Houston Texans “C.J. Stroud,” Happy to Play with ‘Brother’ Cade Stover

After playing together as Ohio State Buckeyes, C.J. Stroud and Cade Stover are rejoining the Houston Texans.

The Ohio State Buckeyes wowed the Houston Texans so much that they chose to sign quarterback C.J. Stroud with the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Texans felt at ease picking Buckeyes tight end Cade Stover in the fourth round of this year’s draft in part because of this. The chemistry that already exists between Stroud and Stover also improves the Texans’ offensive performance.

Yes, man, Cade and I are brothers. Someone I got to play with in college, but I also spent a lot of time off the pitch with him, grilling, hanging out, playing the game and doing other kinds of things’, Stroud remarked of Stover. “I think of that person as my brother. Our families have a close relationship. He has been blocking, catching, and running solid routes out here with great success. It’s incredibly thrilling to watch him take ownership of the offence.

Over the course of three seasons as a tight end for the Buckeyes, Stover caught 82 catches for 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns. Although he began his time at Ohio State as a linebacker, which should improve his chances of being used on special teams by the Texans, he became a successful pass catcher for the Buckeyes, and he will now replicate that success in the NFL with his college quarterback.

In preparation for their inaugural game in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, August 1 in Canton, Ohio, against the Chicago Bears and No. 1 overall choice Caleb Williams, Stover and the Texans have just begun training camp.
