Miles Stanley has been appointed as the crew chief for the Wood Brothers Racing No. 21 Ford Mustang, which will be driven by Josh Berry in 2025. Currently, Stanley is the performance engineer manager at Team Penske, a position he has held for three years, and previously served as Joey Logano’s race engineer from 2013 to 2019. During that period, Logano’s No. 22 secured 21 wins, reached the NASCAR Playoffs Championship 4 three times, and clinched the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series championship.
“The Wood Brothers name is synonymous with the sport of NASCAR, and to be able to serve as the crew chief for the iconic No. 21 is an incredible opportunity,” Stanley remarked.
He added, “I’m looking forward to working with Josh Berry, whose skills and enthusiasm are sure to bring great value to the team. It’s an exciting time for the Wood Brothers with the addition of Josh Berry and the celebration of their 75th anniversary in NASCAR in 2025. We’ll be ready to hit the ground running.”
In 2020, Stanley moved to the No. 12 at Team Penske, aiding Ryan Blaney in maintaining a streak of four consecutive seasons with a race win and playoff entry. The following year, he became crew chief for the part-time No. 33 car driven by Austin Cindric, before transitioning to his current role and contributing to the team’s 2022 and 2023 NASCAR Cup Series championships.
“Miles has built an impressive resume filled with wins and championships, and he has a deep, technical understanding of the sport,” stated Jon Wood, president of Wood Brothers Racing. “His commitment and impressive track record make him a perfect fit for the No. 21 team as we enter an exciting new chapter. Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to work with some of the most talented crew chiefs in NASCAR, and I look forward to seeing what Miles and Josh accomplish on the track next year.”
Stanley graduated from the University of Akron in 2007 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He began his career as an engineer and crew chief for Polestar Racing Group in the Champ Car Atlantic Series before joining Robby Gordon Motorsports in 2009 as a race engineer and then crew chief. He later worked at BK Racing in 2012 as the head of racetrack engineering for the No. 83 and No. 93 Cup Series cars before joining the Penske organization in 2013.
Stanley’s first race as crew chief for the No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford Mustang will be at the inaugural Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium on Sunday, February 2nd.
