The Detroit Lions encountered a significant injury setback just minutes into their Divisional round game against the Washington Commanders.
Cornerback Amik Robertson, 26, was hit hard during one of the early plays and stayed down on the field. Though he managed to get up and walk to the sideline, he quickly headed to the locker room for further medical attention.
His status was initially listed as ‘questionable to return’ due to an elbow injury, but footage from the play suggested that his arm may have been broken. By halftime, Robertson’s condition was updated to ‘OUT.’

Robertson joined the Lions for the 2024 season after spending four years with the Las Vegas Raiders. He played in all 17 regular-season games for Detroit, recording a career-high 40 solo tackles.
He had an especially strong performance in the regular-season finale against the Minnesota Vikings earlier this month, where he helped limit the impact of wide receiver Justin Jefferson. Ahead of the Commanders game, Robertson expressed his excitement for the challenge in the Divisional round, stating, “When I’m out there, I’m a highly competitive guy and I’m a guy that’s not gonna bow down. I know the secondary and those guys aren’t either, because at the end of the day, we’re in that one percent too that’s in the league. It’s gonna be a fun game, and it’s gonna be highly competitive.”
The Detroit Lions finished the regular season with a 15-2 record, earning the No. 1 seed in the NFC and securing a bye for the Wild Card round, giving the team an extra week of rest. Although they are favorites to win against the Commanders, Robertson’s injury presents a significant concern for the team.

Tom Brady and Aidan Hutchinson Connect Before Detroit Lions’ Playoff Game
A major football night is ahead in Detroit, with the Lions set to face the Washington Commanders in the NFL Divisional round. A win would bring the Lions closer to a potential Super Bowl victory, a first in the franchise’s history. While the game itself is a big deal, the Lions’ official Twitter/X account took a moment to honor two Michigan Football icons before the matchup. In the photo below, Tom Brady and Aidan Hutchinson were seen talking ahead of Saturday’s game.
Although Brady made a mark as a quarterback at the University of Michigan, he became legendary due to his NFL career. Drafted by the New England Patriots in the 2000 NFL Draft as a sixth-round pick (No. 199 overall), Brady went on to become the greatest quarterback in NFL history. Meanwhile, Aidan Hutchinson is still early in his NFL journey, but the early signs suggest he may one day be regarded as a legend as well. Unfortunately, an early-season injury cut Hutchinson’s 2024 season short, though there’s hope he could return if the Lions make it to the Super Bowl.

Regardless of the outcome, it’s clear that the University of Michigan has produced some of the NFL’s most impactful players. With athletes like Brady and Hutchinson (among many others) representing the Wolverines, Michigan will always have a strong case to offer to any recruit aspiring to become a football legend.
