Jared Goff’s Wife Shares Brief Message Following His Career Change

During an interview in the 2024 NFL season, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared

During an interview in the 2024 NFL season, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff shared that he often thinks about his life after football. He reflected on what his next steps might look like when his playing career eventually ends.

“Like whenever I’m done however many years from now that is, am I burnt out or do I want more?” Goff told the Detroit Free Press. “I don’t know. I always have said I’d love to help a friend who’s a coach, who’s a head coach. ‘Hey, where can I help?’ And I’m not saying it’s coaching quarterbacks or coaching anything, but just like, ‘Can I help you with anything?”

He continued, “…If I’m going to coach my kid in high school, sure, that’d be fun. But yeah, if I ever have a guy that I’m close with that’s a head coach somewhere and I could be of assistance in anyway, yeah, I’m sure that’d be fun. It might be a remote job, but it depends on where it’s at.”

Although Goff is far from retiring, he is already preparing for his future. On Friday, it was announced that he is part of an investment group aiming to bring a WNBA team to Detroit.

“I’m thrilled to join this inspiring group of leaders as we work to bring a WNBA team to Detroit! This is an incredible opportunity for our vibrant community and the most passionate fans in the country!” he shared in an Instagram story.

His wife, Christen, is also involved in the bid and expressed her excitement with a “LetsBringIt” hashtag and a blue heart.

At just 30 years old, Goff has plenty of football left in him, but he’s already making plans for what’s to come after his playing career.

Report: Detroit Lions part ways with defensive assistant coach

The Detroit Lions are reportedly parting ways with assistant defensive line coach Cameron Davis.

According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, Davis, who has been with the team since 2022, will no longer be part of the coaching staff. This comes after the Lions also lost defensive line coach Terrell Williams earlier this offseason, as he took the defensive coordinator role with the New England Patriots to reunite with Mike Vrabel. The Lions have since hired Kacy Rodgers as their new defensive line coach.

This adds to the disruption in the Lions’ defensive coaching staff. Despite this, coach Dan Campbell had expressed satisfaction with the coaching of the defensive line unit.

“I’ve known Terrell a long, long time and I just think that he’s an absolutely excellent coach, and Cam continues to grow as a coach as well and they work well together,” Campbell said in December. “I think they give our guys the best opportunity to have success in a game which is what you want.”

The Lions’ defensive line faced significant injury setbacks this season, with players like Aidan Hutchinson, Alim McNeill, Marcus Davenport, Kyle Peko, John Cominsky, and Mekhi Wingo all missing substantial time. Nevertheless, the defense persevered, with strong performances from draft picks Levi Onwuzurike and Josh Paschal.

This marks another coaching vacancy for the Lions, adding to a list of coaches who have departed this offseason, including:

  • OC Ben Johnson
  • DC Aaron Glenn
  • Assistant QB coach J.T. Barrett
  • WR coach Antwaan Randle El
  • DL coach Terrell Williams
  • Assistant DL coach Cameron Davis.
