Top Defender Fuels Lions Trade Speculation Through Social Media Posts

Myles Garrett

Detroit Lions Eye Potential Trade for Maxx Crosby Amid Offseason Roster Moves

Following their disappointing playoff loss to the Washington Commanders, the Detroit Lions have shifted focus to the offseason and potential roster upgrades. Given the team’s struggles on the defensive side, it’s expected that the Lions will be aggressive in free agency and the trade market to address their defensive needs.

This offseason’s trade market is stacked with talent, and while Myles Garrett’s official trade request has dominated headlines, Lions fans are buzzing with excitement over the possibility of acquiring Maxx Crosby, a local hero. Crosby, a native of Lapeer, MI, and a former standout at Eastern Michigan, hasn’t formally requested a trade from the Raiders, but rumors surrounding him continue to build.

In fact, Crosby himself may have added fuel to the fire just before the Super Bowl.

Maxx Crosby Sparks More Lions Trade Speculation

During the Detroit Pistons‘ win over the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday, Crosby tweeted about his excitement for his hometown team’s success, calling them “ballin.” The Pistons’ victory brought their record to 27-26, setting them up for their first winning season since 2015-16. While Crosby may have simply been celebrating the Pistons’ performance, it didn’t take long for Lions fans to start speculating about the star defender’s potential return home.

Recent reports out of Las Vegas suggest Crosby might be more inclined to stay with the Raiders following Pete Carroll’s hiring. However, NFL insiders like Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero believe Crosby is likely open to a trade that would land him with a contender.

The Detroit Lions fit that contender profile perfectly—and it would also have personal significance for Crosby. With two years remaining on his contract, but no guaranteed salary left, Crosby’s future in Las Vegas seems uncertain. Given how far the Raiders are from being a true playoff contender, it’s hard to imagine them turning down a trade package that could set them up for a stronger future.

Crosby would likely demand at least one first-round pick in any potential deal. But for a Lions team so close to breaking through and making a Super Bowl run, the idea of pairing Crosby with Aidan Hutchinson, Alim McNeill, and DJ Reader to form a potentially dominant defensive line would make giving up draft capital seem well worth it.

As the offseason progresses, expect more rumors to swirl, but one thing’s clear: the Lions are preparing to make moves—and Maxx Crosby could be one of their top targets. Stay tuned for further developments.
