Liverpool have long been linked with Kylian Mbappe, but even the most optimistic supporters believe the Reds cannot afford to sign him.
However, the latest reports suggest that Liverpool have indeed made a bid to match Paris Saint-Germain’s asking price for the France international.
Last month, we reported a story (via Marca) which said the Merseysiders were looking to spend €300m to sign the Blues superstar.
More recently, reports from Spain (AS – news image below) claim that Liverpool have offered €200million to bring Mbappe to Anfield.
In his speech on El Chiringuito de Jugones, journalist Edu Aguirre said:
“Liverpool came on the scene. People close to Mbappé and PSG tell me that Liverpool’s offer is already on the table.”
In France, the Ligue 1 champions have set an asking price of 200 million euros for their prized asset, according to RMC Sport.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi has given the 24-year-old an ultimatum to sign a new contract. The PSG president said:
“Kylian has to decide within a week or two at the latest. If he doesn’t sign a new contract, the door is open.”
Real Madrid presented a 200 million euro offer two years ago and according to Edu, the Blancos are calm and Mbappé too. The World Cup-winning star wants to move to the Bernabeu and has already signed a contract for 2024.
The ex-Monaco boy earns a whopping £33.8m a year (The Mail) salary, and it would be bizarre to think he’d choose to play in the Europa League for Liverpool.

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara could be on his way to Saudi Arabia after being subject to “serious interest” from clubs, despite him rejecting an earlier offer.
The 32-year-old is entering the final year of his Anfield contract and has been designated a main target for the Saudi Pro League.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool are yet to receive an official offer for the injury-plagued midfielder, who is focused on returning to the first team following his sacking at the end of the season.
The outlet understands that the Spanish international currently intends to stay with Jurgen Klopp’s squad, but the possibility of a move up to the league remains open.
Thiago would be the latest high-profile footballer to commit to the Saudi project and could follow Reds legend Steven Gerrard into the country after he accepts a role as Al-Ettifaq manager.

According to ARSENAL TRANSFER NEWS: LIVERPOOL WON’T SIGN ‘SPECIAL’ STAR BECAUSE OF ALEXANDER-ARNOLD
Danny Murphy believes Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool won’t sign Arsenal transfer target Romeo Lavia from Southampton because of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
After securing the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, which cost Liverpool less than £100million in transfer fees, Murphy said his former club would not spend ‘huge sums’ on a midfielder for the rest of the summer transfer window. as he told talkSPORT.
Romeo Lavia is a player admired by many Premier League players, including Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal who are ready to bid for the 19-year-old following Southampton’s relegation to the Championship.
When Lavia’s age and current status is overturned by managers of the caliber of Jürgen Klopp and Arteta, it’s hard enough to refuse.
Whether he lands at Anfield or the Emirates, you can trust the people in those football clubs’ four walls to take his game to the next level – Jadon Sancho has described him as a “very special” player.
But given Alexander-Arnold’s foray into the middle of the park in the final months of last season and the addition of signings, Murphy can’t think of another midfielder.
“I don’t think Liverpool will spend a lot of money on Lavia or any other midfielder because of Trent, I don’t think so,” Murphy said.
Lavia has the world at her feet
Southampton had the youngest side in the Premier League last season and it showed on the pitch as they failed to get their engine started before they deservedly hit rock bottom.
But amid the grim mood of relegation, it could be argued that Lavia was one of the best players at the club and someone who can hold his head high.
An aggressive player both on and off the ball, the Belgian star has the world at his feet and could turn into a top-flight box-to-box midfielder for years to come if he makes the right moves.
