Former first-round pick of the Browns is joining the Texans.
CANTON, Ohio: According to a league source, veteran offensive tackle Cameron Erving is signing with the Texans as he makes his way to Ohio to play for the reigning AFC South winners.
The 31-year-old Erving warmed up with the Texans before training camp began.
He has experience at both right and left tackle. League sources report that Charlie Heck, the offensive tackle for the Texans, is out for the time being due to a relapse of plantar fasciitis in his foot.
Erving was selected in the first round by the Cleveland Browns from Florida State. He later played for the Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys, and New Orleans Saints before being dealt to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017 in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick. For New Orleans last season, he started three games.
Erving, 31, is a former national champion and 6-foot-5, 315-pound Super Bowl winner who was a unanimous All-American for the Seminoles. Of his 98 NFL games, 58 have been started by him.
The native of Georgia is renowned for his sound technique and adaptability.
