Chelsea and the player agree to a €20 million transfer as a long-term contract

Chelsea has agreed to pay KRC Genk €20 million for the signing of Belgian phenomenon Mike Penders, who plays goalkeeping.

The London club’s latest endeavour has been to find and add to their roster the top young players from across the world. Even though their excessive spending has given them some issues, they are still committed to signing young players with enormous potential.

Sacha Tavolieri claims that Chelsea and KRC Genk have reached an agreement for Mike Penders’ services. The Blues view him as a remarkable talent, and they will stop at nothing to secure his services. The Premier League’s biggest teams have decided to sign a custodian even though they currently have six in their roster.

Penders entered Genk’s development system in 2018 and has since advanced quickly through the levels, earning a spot on their first squad in the summer. The adolescent began the 2024–25 season as the squad’s first choice in goal, despite not playing for their first team the previous year. In addition to playing in both of their league games, he has kept a clean sheet. Due to his outstanding achievements while making his way into the first squad, Chelsea noticed the 19-year-old and has since reached an agreement to sign him.

In addition to promising a sell-on clause to the Belgian team, the Blues have agreed to spend €20 million to sign the custodian from Genk. The adolescent wonder in goalkeeping has agreed to a long-term deal with Chelsea, but he will not be making the move to Stamford Bridge this summer. After finishing his season-long loan at Genk, he will join the Blues the following summer. Prior to transferring to a much larger stage, he will be able to obtain much-needed first-team experience by remaining with his childhood club for a another season.
