The most significant takeaway from the Dallas Cowboys’ Week 9 defeat to the Atlanta Falcons is quarterback Dak Prescott’s hamstring injury. Prescott was unable to finish the game and expressed uncertainty about a swift return in his post-game remarks.
Prescott’s doubts about his recovery were warranted. On Monday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Prescott’s hamstring injury is more serious than originally anticipated.
Rapoport’s sources indicate that the injury will sideline Prescott for several weeks. With Prescott out, Cooper Rush, who replaced him on Sunday, is expected to serve as the starting quarterback for the Cowboys during his absence.

Dak Prescott recorded expressing his true feelings about his Dallas Cowboys teammates
Dak Prescott appeared to express frustration with the Dallas Cowboys, reportedly saying they “f—— suck” after their loss to the Atlanta Falcons, which dropped the team’s record to 3-5.
On Sunday, the Falcons secured a 27-21 win against the Cowboys. Prescott, who started as quarterback, had to leave the game due to hamstring and hand injuries in the third quarter.
Cooper Rush took over for Prescott, but the Cowboys couldn’t mount a comeback in a game they desperately needed to win. Star receiver CeeDee Lamb also seemed to be affected by an injury after making a tough catch late in the fourth quarter.
After exiting the game, Prescott was seen on the sidelines, and cameras captured him apparently saying: “We f—— suck” with under four minutes left.
In the game, Prescott completed 18 of 24 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown, while Rush went 13 of 25 for 115 yards and a score. Despite the disappointing outcome, the Cowboys recorded a season-high 137 rushing yards, with Rico Dowdle leading the way with 75 yards on 12 carries.
Lamb played through a right shoulder injury, visibly in pain after a hit from Falcons safety Jessie Bates in the first half. He ended with eight catches for 47 yards. Prescott also added three carries for 30 yards before leaving with a hamstring issue, and he is set to undergo an MRI on Monday to assess the injury’s severity.
The injury occurred late in the third quarter on an incompletion during a second-and-20 play. Prescott remained for the third down before departing, prompting concern from owner Jerry Jones. “Well, I am concerned about that,” Jones said. “It concerned me when I saw the play or I saw him have a reaction to any weakness that he might have had there in his ham.”
With this victory, the Falcons improved to 6-3, while the Cowboys fell to 3-5 after their third consecutive loss. The Cowboys’ next matchup is against the 5-2 Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Nov. 10.
