Daniel Levy just assisted Tottenham in defeating Liverpool to sign a “exceptional” player for £26 million.

Daniel Levy reportedly played a pivotal role in Tottenham Hotspur’s victory over Liverpool and the signing of Micky van de Ven.

That’s according to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, who say Tottenham look close to beating Bayern Munich and Liverpool to get Van de Ven.

Spurs have already moved to sign both James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario this summer, while former Fulham Manor winger Solomon is expected to move to north London.

Tottenham hope to build a team in Ange Postecoglou’s image over the coming weeks and their defense will be a priority for the club.

They scored an impressive 63 Premier League goals last season and Micky van de Ven has emerged as a major target for Spurs.

In fact, Sky Sports claimed yesterday that Van de Ven has already agreed terms with Tottenham ahead of a proposed £30million transfer.

And it looks like Daniel Levy played a crucial role in helping Tottenham beat Liverpool and sign the defender from Wolfsburg.

De Telegraaf reports that Tottenham are ahead of Bayern and Liverpool in the battle to land Van De Ven.

It’s worth noting that Spurs have already reached verbal personal agreements with the Dutchman, who had plenty of options on the table.

But Levy proved “by far the most impactful” and now the two clubs just need to come to an agreement.

Wolfsburg are looking at around £34.3m but the move is expected to come at a transfer fee of around £30.7m.

Van de Ven has had an impressive season in Germany and has established himself as a Wolfsburg regular.

The 22-year-old is considered an ‘extraordinary’ talent and seems to fit well into Ange Postecoglou’s system.

The left-footed defender boasts excellent off-ball skills, but also possesses brilliant pace, benefiting from Postecoglou’s penchant for higher defensive lines.

Of course, Tottenham have yet to agree a fee with Wolfsburg. But it looks like Spurs are set to make their first signing as a centre-back this summer.
