ALLEN PARK — The Detroit Lions, along with the rest of the NFL, have announced their offseason workout schedules as the draft approaches.
Detroit’s offseason program begins on April 22. The Lions will hold Organized Team Activities (OTAs) from May 28 to May 30, followed by another session from June 3 to June 5.
Their mandatory minicamp will occur from June 10 to June 12, wrapping up before the team heads into summer. For reference, the NFL draft is scheduled for April 24 through April 26 this year.
Teams with new head coaches are allowed to start their offseason workouts early next week.
The Lions are integrating two new coordinators into their staff, along with many fresh faces on their coaching team. While there are a few new players as well, the key focus during the offseason will be observing how the coaching staff and players respond to the changes.
Once the NFL draft concludes, attention will shift to the rookie class and how they will compete for spots and positions with returning players. “Each club may hold a rookie football development program for a period of seven weeks, which in 2025 may begin on May 12,” reports the NFL.
“During this period, no activities may be held on weekends, with the exception of one post-draft rookie minicamp, which may be conducted on either the first or second weekend following the draft. The dates of each club’s post-draft rookie minicamps will be circulated at a later date.”
