Dominik Szoboszlai arrives in Liverpool for the last step before transfer deal

With the transfer of Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig, Liverpool are close to signing their second new signing of the summer

Dominik Szoboszlai has arrived at Liverpool to undergo medical tests and complete his transfer from RB Leipzig.

The midfielder is set to follow Alexis Mac Allister through the Anfield door and become the second signing of the summer in Jurgen Klopp’s squad reshuffle.

As ECHO confirmed last night, the Reds have informed Leipzig that they are ready to trigger Szoboszlai’s £60million release clause.

It emerged this morning that he had been cleared to travel to the UK for his medical checks.

And eagle-eyed plane trackers appeared to identify the exact flight he was on – an Omni Aviation private jet, flying from Budapest to Liverpool this afternoon.

It remains to be seen how quickly Szoboszlai can be assessed by club staff ahead of a possible announcement.

Personal terms shouldn’t be a problem and the Hungarian star is set to sign a five-year deal after revealing he wants to work under Jurgen Klopp.

Newcastle United were also interested in the 22-year-old attacking midfielder, but after Liverpool held a meeting with the player’s agency EM Sports earlier this week, it became clear how badly Szoboszlai wants to play for Klopp.
