LeSean McCoy thinks Prescott’s peak years are over and that his large contract isn’t backed by his performance.

Quarterbacking the Dallas Cowboys is one of the most demanding roles in the NFL, with the team’s quarterback facing intense media scrutiny that is unmatched by other franchises.

LeSean McCoy, a former NFL player and current Fox Sports analyst, has been outspoken about his views on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

During a recent appearance on Fox Sports’ *The Facility*, McCoy suggested that Prescott’s peak performance is behind him and that his sizable contract has yet to deliver the desired results.

McCoy pointed to Prescott’s stellar 2021 season, in which he threw 37 touchdown passes and surpassed 4,400 passing yards. This success was bolstered by a much-improved defense, which featured standout rookie Micah Parsons, who earned Defensive Rookie of the Year honors, and Trevon Diggs, who led the league in interceptions.

Despite this, Prescott faltered in the playoffs against the San Francisco 49ers. Even with a strong supporting cast—including a Pro Bowl running back and elite receivers—the Cowboys were eliminated in the Wild Card round.

In 2023, Prescott finished second in MVP voting, guiding the Cowboys to their third consecutive 12-5 record, only to face a similar fate in the Wild Card round.

“I think Dak’s best days are behind him, like way behind him,” McCoy remarked. “You lost in the first round to the youngest team in the playoffs, the Packers. So, we talk about the better days behind him. What’s he giving you? When I’m paying a quarterback $60 million, what are you giving me?”

McCoy argued that Prescott’s performances, especially in the postseason, have not met the expectations for a franchise quarterback and questioned the value of his contract, suggesting that the Cowboys need more than just regular-season success.

“You play for the Dallas Cowboys, and we need championships,” McCoy emphasized. “And if you can’t give a championship, give us some playoff wins. Something to sell the team on and he hasn’t given you that.”

McCoy’s comments, coming from the 2013 NFL rushing champion, are likely to spark heated discussions among Cowboys fans.

While some may agree with McCoy’s critique, others will likely defend Prescott, pointing to his past achievements and the current challenges surrounding the veteran quarterback in 2024.
