Expert said another club has called in case the transfer of the Liverpool star falls through despite its “very advanced” status.

The transfer of Liverpool midfielder Fabinho from the club is currently at a very advanced stage with only final documents pending.

The Brazil international is set to join pro-Saudi league club Al Ittihad, although there are reports that he could fail. However, Fabrizio Romano also added that Bayern Munich have inquired about the situation should the deal fall through.

In his exclusive CaughtOffside column, Romano discussed the latest news on Fabinho’s future, saying: “I was told that this deal is still in progress, but it was never ‘closed’. It’s very advanced verbally, Al Ittihad is still preparing documents and there can be no green light without contract revision.

“Now this is the crucial point: check all the documents and details of the agreement, including the payment terms. But the deal remains in place for now.

“Bayern Munich also called last week to be updated on the Fabinho deal in case it failed.”

Fabinho has been a huge part of Liverpool’s recent success and fans will no doubt be disappointed to see him leave this summer, even if he showed signs of slowing down last season.

Now it’s certainly vital for the Reds to sign a replacement in defensive midfield, with more on those ties to Southampton’s youngster Romeo Lavia here.

Fabinho would be another hugely impressive signing for a Saudi club this summer, following deals with the likes of Ruben Neves, N’Golo Kante and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
