He told Liverpoolfc.com: “I really hope it gets used there and I can’t wait for someone to send me some footage of it. It will of course be crazy to see it and hear.
“I have so many fans in the UK and a lot of them obviously support Liverpool, so they let me know straight away.” It’s funny that even the AI decides this SASH! and Ecuador is a big thing.
“I always thought maybe one of the songs from SASH! would one day be used in a football stadium – but to date, that hasn’t happened.”
The band also noted a significant increase in listeners from Ecuador on streaming platforms after Mac Allister’s song was posted on social media.
“I’m sure a lot of Liverpool fans remember: ‘Ah, that’s the track,'” Sascha explained.
When it comes to football, Lapessen is an avid Borussia Mönchengladbach fan and was once offered a professional contract by his youth club when he was young.
After Liverpool and Gladbach first met in the 1973 UEFA Cup final, they have enjoyed a special relationship ever since: the Bundesliga side’s fans visit the L4 every year – and Kopites travels the other way to Germany. Lapessen is proud to be involved in the latest of many links between the two proud clubs.
“Unfortunately, I’ve never been this far [at Anfield],” he concluded. “But maybe I’ll do a halftime gig soon or something with Ecuador!”
“I know that there is a long-standing friendship between Liverpool and Mönchengladbach supporters and I know that the song ‘Die Elf vom Niederrhein’ is often played in your stadium.
“So it’s great to see that Liverpool fans have chosen a song for the new player from one of Borussia’s biggest and most famous fans.”
