Jamie Carragher wonders why Liverpool aren’t pursuing a £60k per week Chelsea target.

Jamie Carragher suggests Liverpool should divert Chelsea’s interest in Brighton star Moises Caicedo this summer.

This transfer window has been filled with rumors that Chelsea are looking to bring 21-year-old Moises Caicedo to Stamford Bridge for the new season.

However, the Blues have hit yet another brick wall when it comes to negotiations with Premier League rivals Brighton.

The Guardian recently reported that Chelsea are preparing a new offer to sign Caicedo. As it stands, Mauricio Pochettino’s team has risen to £80million and is yet to reach the £100m price tag. Meanwhile, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed on his YouTube channel that Caicedo sent a clear message to Brighton that he was keen on them selling him to Chelsea.

Carragher admitted he was flabbergasted. There are rumors that Liverpool are not after Brighton’s defensive midfielder this window.

“I don’t know why Liverpool not for Caicedo, yes it’s big money but Liverpool got big money for Jordan Henderson + Fabinho,” Carragher wrote on Twitter.

Brighton are obviously trying to squeeze every penny out of Caicedo’s sale this summer, but it could be worth it for the buyers’ club.

The £60,000-a-week star (Spotrac) is a middle-of-the-park Rolls-Royce who was in talks for one of the Premier League’s best midfielders last season. At 21, the Ecuadorian international has incredible potential and quality.

It might be wise for Chelsea to complete this transfer quickly, before someone like Liverpool has the sense to sign one of the best young midfielders in the world.

£80m Caicedo offer not from Liverpool – focus remains on Lavia while Andre explored

In a bid worth over £80 million for Moises Caicedo of Brighton, a club other than Liverpool has made a submission.

The Athletic reported on Wednesday that sources close to the south coast club are claiming to have recently received an offer for the 21-year-old far exceeding those from Chelsea during their pursuit of his signature this summer.

Following the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, it was suggested as a result of that information that Liverpool may have joined the battle.

This Is Anfield, however, is aware that the Reds have stayed out of the race to sign Caicedo.

Despite recent rejections of offers up to £37 million and £41 million, Southampton’s Romeo Lavia is still the club’s top priority.

Andre Trindade of Fluminense is one of the alternatives Liverpool has evaluated as a result of the latter offer’s rejection.

The 22-year-old, who is estimated to be worth £20 million, has reportedly been in touch with the Brazilian team.

It is unlikely that he would arrive before January, though Fluminense would be reluctant to let him leave before the end of their season.

Lavia continues to be the top target, and a third offer for the talented young Belgian, who Southampton values at £50 million, is anticipated soon.

The 19-year-old must be in place before the Premier League season begins, but Liverpool faces a tight deadline given that the trip to Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea is only 10 days away.
