A statement on the club’s website read: “Based on detailed examinations since Saturday with specialist doctors, we can confirm that Jurrien Timber has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee. Jurrien will soon be undergoing days of surgery. and will be out of service for some time. “The support and expertise of our medical team and all members of the club will now be focused on Jurrien’s rehabilitation program to ensure he recovers well and returns to play as soon as possible.”

It’s impossible to give an exact timeline for the 22-year-old’s rehabilitation process, but CBS Sports has now reported that the player is expected to be out for around seven months. Arsenal hope the versatile defender can return in the 2023/24 season. The player took to social media to send a message of support to fans following the news of his cruciate ligament injury.

He wrote on Instagram: “I’m sorry to share my injury which is more serious than expected, especially after the warm reception I received. I wanted to take my revenge on the pitch, which will not be possible in a near future.”
