Levi Colwill is keen to speak to Mauricio Pochettino about his status at Chelsea before considering discussing a new contract.

Chelsea have insisted the player is not for sale this summer after a strong season on loan at Brighton and want to contact him to discuss a new contract.

However, the England U21s want to know where he fits into Pochettino’s plans this season and how much regular playing time he can expect before discussing new terms.

Colwill, who is under contract until 2025, will look to understand how vital those plans are when he returns to pre-season preparation following his international duty with the Under-21 Euros.

Levi Colwill wants to speak with Mauricio Pochettino before considering a new contract, according to Chelsea transfer reports.
He is expected to play a part in the quarter-final against Portugal in Georgia on Sunday. Widely regarded as one of England’s best centre-backs, Colwill is a bit of a commodity as he is left-footed

But he is also competing with Benoit Badiashile – a £35m signing from Monaco in January – for the left centre-back role at Chelsea.

Brighton were keen to sign Colwill permanently this summer, but a £30m offer was flatly rejected due to Chelsea’s insistence that he was not for sale and wanted as part of Pochettino’s plans.
As well as Brighton, Colwill was on the target list of a number of Premier League clubs.
