Media Digest: Liverpool have reportedly reached personal deals with a potential midfield signing, while Fábio Carvalho has hinted at his future at Anfield.

Liverpool accept personal terms with Romeo Lavia

Liverpool have “agreed personal terms” with Roméo Lavia and are reportedly hoping to secure a deal with Southampton at a discounted price.

Lavia has been linked with a move to Liverpool for much of the summer, with speculation rising over a possible move as Fabinho and Jordan Henderson move closer to a move to Saudi Arabia.

But Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has now suggested that Lavia has agreed personal terms with Liverpool, with the Reds set to make their first offer shortly.

Jürgen Klopp’s team would like to offer around $45m (£41m), although no formal approach has yet been made. Lavia likes to move.

Liverpool star player Fábio Carvalho has cast doubt on his future at Anfield after hinting he could stay at RB Leipzig beyond his current loan deal.

The former Fulham star joined the Bundesliga side on a temporary deal earlier this summer and is set to spend the season in Germany as he seeks to earn more playing time after a disappointing debut season with the Reds.

Now the 20-year-old has given an interview to Transfermarkt in which he explained why he struggled in his debut season with the Reds.

“I think the reason it didn’t work out at Liverpool was because of the position I was playing in,” Carvalho said. “I played on the left, which is actually not my position. I was told I would play number 10, but we didn’t really play number 10 last year.”

“If we play number 10, I can get on my side and spin.”

Carvalho has also hinted that he will have to make a decision on his future when his loan spell expires in Germany and the player hasn’t ruled out staying at Leipzig.

“That’s [not being able to play her favorite role] why I would say it didn’t work out,” he said. “Whether I’m here or at Liverpool next year, we’ll see how it goes.”
