Liverpool are reportedly in talks to sign Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard, while Manchester City are also in the hunt for the French international.
According to journalist Christian Falk, the Reds have held talks with the 27-year-old’s management, with Chelsea, FC Barcelona and City also interested in signing Pavard, who will increasingly leave Bavaria this summer.
However, Pep Guardiola’s side have taken a commanding lead in the race to sign Pavard in recent days. However, interest from Liverpool could attract the defender, who could become a regular for Jürgen Klopp given his unique characteristics.
Pavard’s ability to play as both a centre-back and right-back makes the French international a good option. And according to Falk, Liverpool are in talks with the defender’s side over a possible summer transfer this window.
The journalist said: “He IS an interesting player for the Premier League. Chelsea always talk to their management; Liverpool are in talks with their management, Barcelona too, but Barcelona don’t have the money at the moment. They would like him to be a free agent next summer.”
Pavard could be a dream signing for Liverpool this summer
Interest in Pavard has been high this summer and with Liverpool on the market to cover for both right-back and centre-back, it’s no wonder the Bundesliga superstar is so sought after. And winning the contest at defender could be huge for the Reds.
Hailed as ‘world class’ by former Bayern manager Niko Kovac, Pavard would be a dream addition for Klopp for the season ahead. And while City’s interest is a concern, Liverpool have the finances and reputation to take on the reigning English champions.
