Liverpool are preparing a bid to sign Nigerian international Victor Osimhen from Italian champions Napoli.
Well, of all the ridiculous rumors we’ve seen so far this summer, this one is probably at the top of the list.
According to today’s version of La Gazzetta Dello Sport (news photo below), Liverpool have ‘chosen for Osimhen’ and the Serie A winner wants at least £154m (£180m). euros) for his precious fortune.
The Milan-based news source mentioned that Premier League clubs are betting on the African centre-forward and major offers could be made for the Italians in the ‘coming days’.
Among English sides, Liverpool are said to be the favorites with a 20% chance of signing the 24-year-old. On the other hand, both Manchester United and Newcastle United have a 5% chance each.
The Magpies and the Red Devils can offer the Champions League next season and Corriere dello Sport revealed last week that the striker doesn’t want to give up on CL football.
La Gazzetta says Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has already rejected a €100m offer from PSG and PL clubs are now “preparing raises”.
The Reds have already contacted the striker’s agent and the Neapolitan club are looking to extend his stay or sack him for the right amount of 154 million pounds.
Osimhen’s versatile qualities are said to be highly regarded by Anfield manager Jurgen Klopp. The German coach is looking for a striker who can ‘make the difference’ and the Serie A top scorer is considered the ideal number 9.
In all honesty, even the most optimistic of fans wouldn’t believe that Liverpool will absolutely shatter their transfer record by paying £154m to sign Victor Osimhen.
La Gazzetta Dello Sport states that Liverpool know Napoli’s assessment of the player and want to consider all aspects before ‘going out’.
