Liverpool have a ‘full deal’ on another transfer exit this summer and will benefit Jurgen Klopp and the Reds in many ways in the short and long term.
Fábio Carvalho is set to become Liverpool’s next star from this summer – but the Reds will only approve a deal on their terms for a player who could still play a big role at Anfield in the long run.
Carvalho, who is just 20, made 20 senior appearances in his first season with Liverpool, having joined Fulham last summer. However, they have only played 638 minutes in total, just over half of them in the Premier League.
Carvalho, who was a Fulham regular in the Championship the year before and would like more action, could soon be on a season-long loan to RB Leipzig as the Bundesliga side move closer to a consensus with Liverpool .
On Twitter, Fabrizio Romano reports that “negotiations are being finalized” as the move “will be signed next week” and that a “full agreement is confirmed”. While ECHO reports negotiations are ongoing, a loan exit looks likely.
Liverpool are still not ready to allow anything other than a straight loan deal with no option to buy built into the move and no chance of a permanent departure this summer. A $13m (£10m/€12m) bid for Leipzig was rejected earlier, but a loan move to Germany is paying off for all parties.
RB Leipzig are a side that have bought Liverpool in the past, with this latest deal potentially bringing a double benefit. On the one hand, it strengthens the relationship between the two clubs and on the other hand, it also means that Carvalho has signed for a team that plays a similar style to Liverpool.
Carvalho can play for a team in the Champions League, operating at the top of a league known for developing young talent.
At the end of that loan he can prove to be a player who – if he were hypothetically a Leipzig regular – Liverpool would be interested in signing the next Ibrahima Konaté, Naby Keita or Timo Werner.
The move to Leipzig on loan will allow Liverpool to assess exactly what level of player he is before his return to Merseyside in 2024.
The value will rise. At the very least, what Liverpool will get from this move are higher offers than they would have come during this period. Liverpool.com says: Ultimately it would be a win-win-win.
Leipzig can team up with another promising young talent, Carvalho gets the minutes he wanted he didn’t get in the second half of last season and Liverpool get a player developed enough to be a long-term option. 2024, so the hope, or an increase in the sums of money that could be involved in a future transfer.
From Liverpool’s perspective, it’s a move that represents the best transfer deal possible.
