Liverpool have signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai and a new report indicates Khephren Thuram could still join the duo at Anfield
Liverpool are reportedly ready to pay €30m (£25.6m) for the services of Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram.
The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for the Frenchman in recent weeks as Jurgen Klopp completes an overhaul of his midfield department. Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have already arrived at Anfield to strengthen this department and there could be further changes.
Thuram made 48 appearances in all competitions last season and recently featured in the European Under-21 Championship but were knocked out in the quarter-finals of the competition. It’s safe to say his performances haven’t gone unnoticed as Liverpool aren’t the only club considering a move for the 22-year-old.
Barcelona and Bayern Munich are the latest sides to be linked to Thuram, with El Nacional saying the former has been asked to target the youngster as a replacement for Sergio Busquets.
However, Nice’s asking price could prove to be a sticking point, as Barcelona “are neither willing nor able to pay” this amount.
He added that Bayern and Liverpool were “willing to pay whatever it would cost” to sign the midfielder and both were “preparing a first offensive” to knock Thuram out of Ligue 1.
Thuram still has two years left on his contract with Nice, leaving his employers in a relatively strong position in negotiations. Any potential transfer deal would see the Reds take their summer spending above £100m, having already spent £95m on two new recruits.
ECHO recently reported that Liverpool’s long-standing interest in Thuram remains unchanged as the club consider the possibility of a third summer signing. At this stage, Jurgen Klopp’s side haven’t taken any formal action.
