Liverpool joined in a move for a £70m playmaker this summer

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a move from France which is expected to cost around €70m.

According to a report from Marca on Paisley Gates, other clubs are interested in signing the 30-year-old Italy international and Paris Saint-Germain are ready to let the player go at a reasonable price.

Apparently, Middle Eastern clubs are also interested in signing the midfielder and Spanish giants Atlético Madrid are keeping tabs on the player.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can fend off the competition and sign the midfielder this summer. The Reds need to strengthen their midfield, especially with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho expected to leave the club soon.

Someone like Verratti would be a quality acquisition. The 30-year-old is one of the best midfielders in Europe and has proven himself at club and national level. Despite his injuries, he will bring a new dimension to the Liverpool team.

The Reds need someone who can control the pace of play and add creativity to the squad. The Italian could prove to be a quality signing alongside Thiago Alcântara.

Both players are exceptionally good at controlling the pace of play and breaking lines. If Liverpool can use them alongside a good defensive midfielder, they will have an outstanding midfielder.

Verratti has already proven himself in France and the opportunity to play in the Premier League could be an attractive option for him. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool are willing to pay the asking price for the midfielder.
