Liverpool transfer news – Kylian Mbappe choice Romeo Lavia second offer, Jordan Henderson departure

Liverpool transfer news, rumors, gossip and speculation including the latest on Jordan Henderson, Romeo Lavia, Marco Verratti, Kylian Mbappe, Fabinho, Joshua Kimmich, Levi Colwill and more

Jordan Henderson caused a whirlwind Wednesday afternoon. The first images of the 33-year-old training with his new Al Ettifaq team-mates have appeared before anything was officially announced. He then took to Instagram to greet Reds fans and everyone involved in the club with emotion. Now all that remains is for both clubs to confirm the expected £13m deal.

Reds affiliate Kylian Mbappé is also said to have made a decision about his future. Despite accepting a world record offer for his services, Paris Saint-Germain rejected an approach from Al Hilal. That aside, Jurgen Klopp has made progress in securing a long-term replacement for the outgoing captain. Romeo Lavia received an opening offer of £37m earlier this week and if yesterday’s rumors are to be believed, a second bid of £45m is imminent.

Will Liverpool take another step today?

Jordan Henderson is facing brutal inheritance issue from Liverpool ahead of move to Saudi Arabia
There has never been a Liverpool player who has polarized opinion as much as Jordan Henderson.

And since he’s done it for virtually his entire 12-year tenure with the Reds, there probably won’t be that many again. But his controversial departure to pro-Saudi league club Al-Ettifaq – where he will reunite with former Reds team-mate Steven Gerrard – ensures a rare general consensus on the 33-year-old.

Yes, the number is still decreasing. Henderson has the freedom to do whatever he wants. His legacy at Anfield is safe, having led Jurgen Klopp’s side as they won the major leagues in recent years.

However, even this group would concede that it does not do well to see the current Liverpool captain – just weeks before the start of the season – give up the most intense battle for his starting midfield position and accept to instead a lucrative offer from a controversial league. It doesn’t look good at all.

Ian Doyle takes a look at Jordan Henderson’s Anfield legacy here.

Is Conor Bradley in line for a new Liverpool deal?

According to The Athletic, Conor Bradley is set to sign a new three-year contract at Liverpool.

The Liverpool youngster started both of Liverpool’s pre-season games this summer and impressed as a substitute for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Bradley last signed a new long-term contract with the Reds in 2021.

Kylian Mbappe reportedly turned down gigantic Saudi Pro League offer

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Frenchman turned down a €200m offer from Saudi professional league club Al Hilal. On Wednesday evening, Romano wrote on Twitter: “Although the Al Hilal delegation visited Paris, Kylian Mbappé refused to negotiate with Al Hilal.”

“PSG Mbappé have no intention of starting talks at this time, despite being offered a fixed salary of 200 million euros plus 100% image rights.

“PSG are convinced that Mbappé has agreed to the terms with Real Madrid.”

Henderson’s successor?

Well, the million dollar question at Anfield now is who inherits the captaincy from Jordan Henderson.

Liverpool are of course not lacking in leadership within their ranks: Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker, Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and even new signing Dominik Szoboszlai are all captains of their respective nations.

But who will take over as captain with the departure of captain Henderson and vice-captain James Milner at the start of the summer? I bet on Van Dijk.

What a wild night!

As we approach 6:30 this morning, nearly 12 hours after Jordan Henderson announced his departure from Liverpool, neither Liverpool nor Al Ettifaq have confirmed the move.

It truly is one of the strangest departures we have ever seen from Anfield. What do you think Reds, has Jordan Henderson significantly damaged his legacy at Liverpool?
