Jurgen Klopp’s side will be aiming for three wins from four pre-season games this afternoon when they meet the Bundesliga champions in the penultimate game before the Premier League resumes.

Unfortunately, there will be no reunion with Reds legend Sadio Mane, whose departure from Bayern Munich was confirmed yesterday, as he begins a new chapter in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr.

The Reds were worthy winners in their final game of the pre-season, beating Leicester City 4-0 at the weekend. They will try to maintain that level of performance against Munich, who will be the third German side to face this summer so far.

During their time in Klopp’s homeland, the Reds beat Karlsruhe 4-2 and then parted ways with Greuther Fruth 4-4. Bayern started their preparations with a 27-0 win over German ninth division FC Rottach-Egern. But since that defeat they were beaten 2-1 by Manchester City to secure a 1-0 win over Kawasaki Frontale

Kick-off against Bayern is at 12.30pm BST, with the game on LFC TV. And Ian Doyle, editor-in-chief for ECHO’s Liverpool FC, will be at the National Stadium for live match updates. We’ll have the latest team news as soon as we hear it, plus score updates, commentary, streaming details and analysis.

Fingers crossed it’s not as bad as initially feared for Alexis Mac Allister. Actually, all crossed

Taking care of Liverpool

As the referee blows his whistle for half-time, Alexis Mac Allister is being treated for a knee injury.

Andy Robertson reports contact by contact, a slight concern for the Reds and not what they need.

He gets up and staggers away.

PEACE
The referee blows his whistle for half time.

Liverpool 2-2 Bayern Munich. Bayern exploits the space
Bayern should and should be ahead as Tel meekly shoots at Alisson when he is one-on-one. The Germans made use of the space left in and around the right side of Liverpool’s defences. Matip doesn’t have the pace of Konate to cover the inverted full-back.

Two minutes of recovery
In two more minutes to Singapore.

Alisson forced a save
Bayern continues. The young Mathys Tel dances in the area, finds an element of space but shoots low, which is easy for Alisson.

Just before the break in Singapore 2-2.

An old-fashioned Klopp
Liverpool are the real old school Klopp at the moment – really impressive going forward, less so the other way around

Liverpool with questions to answer
Gnabry has acres of space on the right, runs into the area – tackled by Matip – Robertson approaches him, but the German finds Sane who coolly converts.

OBJECTIVE! Liverpool 2-2 Bayern Munich (43′ Leroy Sane)
Returning level as Bayern Munich restore parity.

Former Manchester City striker Leroy Sané makes it 2-2. WATCH: Van Dijk doubles Liverpool’s lead
You know the equation.

Andy Robertson > Virgl van Dijk > goal.

Teething problems for the Reds
Too easy for Gnabry when he gets behind Alexander-Arnold when he runs a long pass, cuts in Matip then hits home. Still teething problems in this Liverpool defence. We also saw it against Leicester, but without penalizing the Reds. The parties are still finding ways to get in after them.

Too easy
Liverpool opens up. Kim Min-Jae finds Serge Gnabry with a long pass after a run between Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

He walks in and shoots past Alisson.

AIM! Liverpool 2-1 Bayern Munich (Gnabry)
All is not won for Liverpool in Singapore as Serge Gnabry halves the deficit.

Only one result
As easy as it may be for Van Dijk. If you leave it unmarked on one corner and put it on your forehead, there is only one result. Great Virgo!
Liverpool are reaping the rewards.

The Reds have been working hard on set pieces this week and it is certainly coming to fruition.

Van Dijk struck in the center and the Dutchman raced to head past a desperate Sommer with a header.

Salah to Davies
This sprint race between Salah and Davies has been exciting so far. Not many defenders are faster than Liverpool’s Egyptian king, but he met a match in the Canadian. AIM! Liverpool 2-0 Bayern Munich (Virgil van Dijk)
He marks his captaincy with a goal!

drinks break
Both teams must carry enough liquid on board.

It is very hot in Singapore.

22′ Liverpool 1-0 Bayern Munich (Gakpo).

A new test for Liverpool
This match will be played at a slightly faster pace and with greater intensity than any of Liverpool’s previous friendlies.

WATCH: Liverpool lead thanks to Gakpo
Well made, expertly dispatched.

Problems for Liverpool
Bayern pose big problems for Liverpool with their pace in the final third, especially around the edge of the penalty area.

11 difficult first minutes for Jones
Jones is already finding it very difficult in this defensive midfield role. Bayern have a lot of speed and power and play right through it sometimes.

KILL

Luck begs for Bayern
Pavard misses an absolute passer as Liverpool fail to clear a corner, the ball bounces around the five-yard gap and he heads for the post before nodding a few yards higher

Szoboszlai comes back to life with familiar foes
Szoboszlai met Bayern seven times during his time at RB Leipzig. He suffered defeat in his first five games but registered a goal and an assist against Bayern last year in the Bundesliga as Leipzig managed to draw 1-1 at home before winning 3-1 outside. Of course, it’s only a friendly match today, but he would like to strike a blow at his former opponents.

no chance of not being two
Liverpool were unlucky not to take a 2-0 lead in just five minutes. Jota enters from the left, but doesn’t have enough power with his flat pass to Salah. Give the Bayern defense time to come back and block the Egyptian’s shot. Brilliant movement and ending
What a well deserved goal. Nice use of Gakpo in midfield, one-two with Jota, who keeps running then passes Sommer. Everything comes from a Robertson litter.

Thomas Grønnemark may not be on the list anymore, but the throw-in coach will be pleased

AIM! Liverpool 1-0 Bayern Munich (Gakpo)
The Reds are ahead in less than two minutes!

Midfielder
As expected, Szoboszlai is on the left in third midfield and Mac Allister on the right.

On the way to Singapore

We are on the way!

In the ground
Despite all the talk about selling this game, it’s far from it. Maybe over 40,000 here. Prices are too expensive.

Jurgen Klopp on team selection
“This team, as they stand, are natural forwards on the pitch. If they don’t defend, we’re screwed anyway, so that’s it.

“We have to work together, we have to be united, we have to do all the dirty work too. We can be really good with that and I’m sure the boys want that. Dom showed that with every second of training, Macca is a very smart player and accepts that too.

“On the front line they’re going to do that, we all know that, so we’ve got Curtis. Straight away having Curtis in possession is a very good thing because of his ability as a footballer, so let’s see.”

“We’ll see how it goes, but we’re very positive about it.” It’s not an experiment or anything, it’s something that’s definitely possible for us. But of course you have to show how good you are in the real tests and then we can talk about it after the game.

Curtis Jones raves about new arrivals from Liverpool
“What a player, by the way. It’s as simple as that, they are amazing. They arrived, well adjusted, they are an integral part of the team. We have Dom there, the energy is crazy. He will walk and push, he will run, he will recover the ball, but he is calm. And of course we’ve seen a lot of Macca in the first half, he’s one of the best on the ball and will try to find a half-time pass. So yeah, it’s good to be with those two.”

squire
Jones back in a deeper role
Curtis Jones leaves today as a defensive midfielder. It’s clear this isn’t the ideal long-term solution as Liverpool have made a second offer for Romeo Lavia and confirmed their interest in Fluminense. For now, however, these must be needs. And she spoke to LFC TV about playing that deeper role.

“I play a deeper role, but it’s more of the same. It’s an opportunity for me to take the ball and control the pace on the pitch,” she said.

Signage galore
Lots of signs in the crowd here. “Alisson Becker Allez,” says one, while there are some who support Bayern, who have a significant fan base in Asia. “Kloppo, can I have your used hat” is probably a bit specific.

A revelation today
Mac Allister and Szoboszlai start together in Liverpool midfield for the first time.

With a right and a left, positioning shouldn’t be a big issue.

But that will tell how much defensive work they can do. Bayern won’t do anything stupid. Guess!
Did I mention it is very hot?

Well it is. And the action could be hot on the pitch, and it sure will be in the stands. They’re expecting over 50,000 for this one, although with 45 minutes to go there aren’t that many here right now.

That could change once the teams start warming up. Not that they have to do much. Did I mention it’s hot?

On the other hand
Benjamin Pavard and Joshua Kimmich start but no place for Ryan Gravenberch.

(vs)

This is Virgil van Dijk’s first official game as Liverpool captain after he was announced to replace Jordan Henderson.

The players face a tough test – not just FC Bayern Munich
A very, very, very warm welcome to Singapore for the final friendly of Liverpool’s pre-season campaign. Yes, it is Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich who represent a significant leap in quality as the Reds’ opponents.

We have been here since Friday and today is by far the hottest and wettest day yet.

It’s going to be hot for players, even though the sun will be at least mostly gone.

Liverpool team meets Bayern Munich

The calm before the storm
The scene is based in Singapore. Liverpool are looking to extend their unbeaten streak against Bayern Munich as Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp face off again.

Kick-off is approaching

There are just over two-and-a-half hours left before kick-off for Liverpool’s penultimate pre-season game.

The Reds are unbeaten so far but this is by far their toughest test of the offseason.

They will be the third German side to face Liverpool this summer, but the first from the region’s top flight.

So far, Bayern Munich have won one of their friendlies this summer and lost one against Manchester City. Bayern Munich relaxed ahead of this afternoon’s meeting
Nothing says pre-season like this.
