Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and perhaps Wataru Endo, who completed his transfer from VfB Stuttgart on Friday afternoon, should make their home debuts.

For all of the lead-up, in-game updates, and post-game analysis, Ian Doyle and Theo Squires will be in the press box at Anfield.

In the second half, there is a lot to play for.

At halftime, it’s safe to say Liverpool will be pleased with the score.

For the first 20 minutes, they were utterly terrible and inconsistent defensively. They had the support of a sizable portion of the Anfield crowd.

However, a strong performance from Diaz and a nice play from Szoboszlai to win a penalty that Salah converted on the ensuing rebound have made a significant difference.

It would be a huge surprise if Bournemouth didn’t score at least one more goal despite the fact that Liverpool appear to be moving so quickly in the other direction.

The second half has a lot to play for. This one is really up for grabs.

Player Ratings.

IAN DOYLE’S HALF-TIME RATINGS.

Alonso Becker 6.

heavy touch outside of that area resulted in a booking for a foul, and he wasn’t always convincing with the ball.

Trent Alexander-Arnold Number 6.

He was a little too easily exposed for the Bournemouth goal, but his contribution to the equalizer helped him somewhat to redeem himself. pushed Neto to the limit.

Abraham Konate 6.

Even the Frenchman missed a few tackles early on, summing up Liverpool’s early struggles, but they gradually got better.

Virgil van Dijk 6.

It was foolish to play the ball into midfield to start Bournemouth’s opening goal, but a header and another shot went wide.

Andy Robertson 5.

Extremely unsure in the early going, but somewhat unlucky when his challenge on Solanke resulted in Semenyo scoring. After that, things started to calm down.

Alexis MacAllister 6

In the first quarter, Bournemouth surrounded him and he found it extremely difficult to move. Nevertheless, decent moving forward.

Szoboszlai 6.

early on, a little bit bounced off possession, but started to adapt, and deft footwork won the penalty.

Cody Gakpo, 6.

put in a lot of effort, but was frequently torn between staying in midfield and moving forward.

Mohamed Salah is number 6

Large portions of the first half were frustrating due to a poor penalty, but he remained alert enough to grab the rebound.

Diogo Jota 6.

Missed a good opportunity with a poor touch but did well to enter the zone and set up Liverpool’s first player Diaz.

Diaz, Luis 7.

Like many of his teammates, he started off awkwardly, but he never stopped moving forward and took his equalizer beautifully.

Reds 2-1, Bournemouth at halftime.

Take a breath.

Antoine Semenyo scored in the first minute to give Liverpool a 2-1 lead going into halftime.

Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah provided the Reds’ response, with Salah converting the rebound after his penalty was saved.

Liverpool was once more in danger.
Prior to the break, Liverpool was forced to defend. Konate does a good job of forcing Solanke off the ball in the box.

Semenyo forces Alisson to make a diving save from outside the box because the threat is not eliminated.

Konate goes there.

Set-piece practice certainly took place during the preseason for Liverpool. Ibrahima Konate leaves Robertson’s corner and moves closer.

The final minute of the additional 45.

Liverpool is around the corner.

It’s likely that Szoboszlai is reading the blog. He charges forward but his thrust is deflected for a corner.

Szoboszlai irritation of a minor nature.

Szoboszlai has so far disappointed me in one small way during his home debut. We know he’s got a hell of a shot, why doesn’t he want to shoot, but the Hungarian keeps looking for another pass.

Extra four minutes.

Here at Anfield, an additional four minutes will be used.

After Antoine Semenyo scored first, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool a 2-1 advantage.

Even though it’s been entertaining, I’m not sure Jurgen Klopp will agree.

CHANCES!

Szoboszlai plays a dummy for Alexander-Arnold as Liverpool line up around the edge of the box. He cuts in on his left, but Neto beats him to the corner.

To take Robertson.

Van Dijk, who had a clear header, nodded wide. Would he have been able to improve?

Gakpo radiates assurance.

Gakpo is doing well so far, whether he likes the position or not.

Anfield appreciates how he uses excellent technique to leave two Bournemouth players in his wake.

Many objectives remain in this.
A fine, but still a fine. Salah was also alert enough to put in the rebound after his shot was saved because it wasn’t very convincing. Even if the game were to continue, both teams still have a ton of goals left to score in this half. This is far too open.

Szoboszlai!

Liverpool is dismantling Bournemouth, and Jota sets up Szoboszlai to shoot but instead chooses to pass, which causes the move to fail.

Liverpool 2-1 Bournemouth (Salah).
Salah shoots down the middle; Neto blocks it with a powerful left hand, but Salah scores on the rebound.

LIVERPOOL IS SUFFERING!

When dancing toward the corner, Dominik Szoboszlai trips.

a system change?

With the ball in their hands, Liverpool *might* have abandoned their 3-2-2-3 formation. In the most recent few minutes, Alexander-Arnold has been more to the right than the center.

Liverpool is squealing.

They now appear to be a threat moving forward, Liverpool.

Luis Diaz fires over as I type, exuding confidence.

Jota is causing trouble.
Jota is much more engaged than he was at Stamford Bridge today. He is running into the box while falling deeply into space and causing trouble.

Luis Diaz’s magic.

Luis Diaz scores a special goal in a moment of brilliance by flicking the ball up and volleying it in. In that sense, nothing we didn’t already know from Liverpool. The midfield and defense are currently costing them despite having unmatched attacking options.

Luis Diaz is now 2 for 2.
Diaz, who in reality had been struggling along with the rest of the Liverpool players up until that point, now has two goals in as many games. Having been so errant up until that point, can the Reds now be brought under control?

From beginning to end.
Compared to last week, Liverpool saw a lot more of the ball but didn’t do much with it. Their best opportunity came from Van Dijk’s header that hit the crossbar, as Bournemouth constantly seemed to be trying to split them open.

Liverpool 1-1 Bournemouth (Luis Diaz)

Luis Diaz equalizes for Liverpool!

Animated szoboszlai

Sharp start for Szoboszlai, whose shot is deflected just wide of the frame. Great play in the build up to win the ball despite a fall that caused Kop to turn his moans into grateful cheers.

Gakpo rushes
Fine resolution from Luis Diaz, his early attempts are blocked before Szoboszlai’s low shot is deflected in return.

The corner is short before Alexander-Arnold finds Salah at the far post, losing his footing before reaching Gakpo whose shot goes over the goal.

nice claim
Diogo Jota descends into the penalty area between two Bournemouth defenders but nothing is given. Andy Robertson’s earlier shot was good, but no Liverpool players attacked in that area.

Semenyo finally in the book
An explosive run from Cody Gakpo sees him stumble midway through Bournemouth. Andy Robertson gets up, Thomas Bramall gives yellow nod.

Worst Liverpool to play in a long time
This is the worst Liverpool that Liverpool have played in a long time and the crowd are not at all happy with some of the play from behind. Bournemouth cuts easily as they go forward. Corner in Liverpool
Another opportunity for Andy Robertson to deliver.
