The pre-season is underway and will take Liverpool to three different countries and two continents as they play five friendlies to prepare for the 2023/24 season.
Jurgen Klopp has all but two of his older players back in training from Tuesday, his squad includes two new signings and a number of youngsters ready to capitalize on their luck.
Although last summer’s preparations were less than desirable and contributed to a memorable season, the club made changes to avoid repeating the same mistakes.
The first is to get to a training camp as soon as possible, where Klopp will take his team to the German town of Donaueschingen in the Black Forest.
The team will leave on Saturday before two friendlies against second division clubs Karlsruher (July 19) and Greuther Fürth (July 24). After the two 90-minute matches, they will return to Merseyside for a few days, according to the Athletic, before flying to Singapore on 27 July.
Klopp’s team will spend almost a week in Garden City for the “Singapore Festival of Football”, where the Reds will face Leicester (July 30) and Bayern Munich (August 2).
Immediately after the second game against the German champions, they return to Merseyside.
The fifth and final pre-season match against Darmstadt then awaits Deepdale on 7 August, hopefully the jet lag has passed by then as Chelsea’s opening day is just six days away.
In total, Liverpool’s pre-season runs for 36 days – just three days longer than last summer – but they are working hard to learn from past mistakes, maximize training time and limit commercial commitments.

When Lavia’s age and current status is overturned by managers of the caliber of Jürgen Klopp and Arteta, it’s hard enough to refuse.
Whether he lands at Anfield or the Emirates, you can trust the people in those football clubs’ four walls to take his game to the next level – Jadon Sancho has described him as a “very special” player.
But given Alexander-Arnold’s foray into the middle of the park in the final months of last season and the addition of signings, Murphy can’t think of another midfielder.
“I don’t think Liverpool will spend a lot of money on Lavia or any other midfielder because of Trent, I don’t think so,” Murphy said.
Lavia has the world at her feet
Southampton had the youngest side in the Premier League last season and it showed on the pitch as they failed to get their engine started before they deservedly hit rock bottom.
But amid the grim mood of relegation, it could be argued that Lavia was one of the best players at the club and someone who can hold his head high.
An aggressive player both on and off the ball, the Belgian star has the world at his feet and could turn into a top-flight box-to-box midfielder for years to come if he makes the right moves.
