Man Utd ‘threaten Inter Milan’ ahead of Andre Onana transfer deal

Manchester United are set to sign Inter Milan star Andre Onana their second sining  of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United have reportedly threatened Inter Milan before agreeing a deal for Andre Onana.

The Cameroonian international is ready to swap San Siro for Old Trafford this summer.

He will replace David De Gea, who recently left the club on a free transfer.

Manchester United have been eyeing a deal for Onana since the decision to sack De Gea. And now they are set to bring in the Inter star after agreeing a deal believed to be worth around £42m.

According to Corriere dello Sport, United allegedly threatened the Serie A giants during the talks. They made it clear they would abandon negotiations for Onana and look elsewhere.

Inter  Milan bosses Giuseppe Marotta and Piere Ausilio refused to lower their demands, prompting United to take action.

They then reduced the asking price to around £47m, feeling this was a fair return for their number 24. But United have now managed to acquire Onana at a lower-than-expected price, with the 27-year-old becoming the club’s second signing this summer after Mason Mount.

Quinton Fortune, Eric Djemba-Djemba, Manucho, Mame Biram Diouf and Wilfried Zaha were all recruited when Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge.

Under Jose Mourinho, United bowed out for Eric Bailly in the 2016 summer transfer window. And in January 2020, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed Odion Ighalo on loan, with the striker netting five goals during his time at Old Trafford.

Onana replaces De Gea. The Spain international recently confirmed his departure on social media, saying:

“Just wanted to send this farewell message to all Manchester United fans.”I want to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for love over the past 12 years.

“We have achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club.

“I was incredibly proud every time (sic) I wore this shirt, leading the team, representing this institution, the greatest club in the world was an honor only granted to a lucky few footballers.“It has been an unforgettable and successful time since I arrived here.

“I didn’t think that if we left Madrid as a kid we would achieve what we did together.”Now is the right time to take on a new challenge, to push myself again in a new environment.”

United were now able to get on some of the other goalkeepers. Tom Heaton is wanted by Luton and Everton, the veteran looking for regular action as he enters the final years of his career.

Matej Kovar is linked with a move to Sparta Prague. And Dean Henderson is wanted at Nottingham Forest after a successful loan spell last season.
