Manchester United confirm Amad Diallo will miss the start of the season with injury

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo will miss the start of the new season with an injury.

The Red Devils will start their Premier League season against Wolves on 14 August and will do so without the Ivorian striker, who has been struggling with a knee problem in recent weeks.

The club have confirmed that 21-year-old Amad will be ineligible for the “first part” of the campaign.

A recovery date has not yet been set by United following the injury sustained in the pre-season win against Arsenal on 23 July.

As a result, Amad will also miss out on this weekend’s double fixture against Lens and Athletic Club, along with Kobbie Mainoo who will be ruled out for the next few weeks with an ankle injury. United suffered a number of injuries in pre-season.

Anthony Martial and Tyrell Malacia were unable to play, the former picking up a hamstring injury in the FA Cup final at the end of last season.

Erik ten Hag said of Martial earlier this summer: “When you have a player in a team, you expect him to be available, and then the players have to take responsibility for being available.”

“But when he’s not there I have to deal with the situation and you show that you can succeed even without that striker. But yes, of course it’s easier when you have that striker in your team because that I think any club that wins big trophies has chances to score in this team.”

Adidas publishes the Mason Greenwood Declaration amid claims he’s set to make Man Utd return

The Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood did not play for the club for more than a year, with a decision made in the future of the Old Trafford of the English interns

Manchester United -kit Adidas producer issued a declaration on the “imprecise” relationship in the middle of speculation on the future of Mason Greenwood with the Premier League team.

Greenwood was arrested and then accused of aggression, attempted rape and coercion and checking the behavior in January 2022. All the accusations were withdrawn by the Crown ProsColution Service in February of this year.

The International Engineer of England was suspended from United in January 2022 when the first accusations were established and the Red Devils said that Greenwood would be suspended, pending the result of an internal investigation of the club. The 21 -year -old will continue to contract with Old Trafford until 2025 and the club has yet to make a public decision on his future.

“Following inaccurate and speculative media coverage, it is important for us to clarify that Adidas has not engaged in any discussions with Manchester United regarding any member of its squad of players,” read a statement from Adidas. “We have no role in any decision made in relation to any member of the team or club staff.”

Earlier, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag made a statement about him during the club’s preparatory programme. We all have to accept it.”

It is clear United’s position on Greenwood will have no impact on the club’s summer transfer activities. United are in talks over a deal for Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund, who was an unused substitute in Atalanta’s pre-season win against Bournemouth.

Earlier in the summer, reports suggested Greenwood could move to Atalanta as part of a deal for Hojlund. However, Atalanta are believed to be only making a cash offer for their player, who scored nine Serie A goals last season.

A product of Manchester United’s academy, Greenwood made his debut for the club as a teenager during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time as manager. He scored his first senior goal for the club in September 2019, just before his 18th birthday.

The Yorkshire-born player has scored 35 goals in 129 games for the Red Devils, 22 of them in the Premier League. He also has one cap for the England national team when he came on as a substitute against Iceland in 2020.

In Greenwood’s final season with United’s first-team, he scored six goals in 24 games, five of which came in the Premier League. His last appearance was in a 1-0 win over West Ham in January 2022.
