Manchester United set to complete deal for bargain midfielder this weekend: report

Manchester United are looking to add another midfielder to their squad – and it could cost less than £25m

Manchester United would like to sign another midfielder this weekend.

The Red Devils have so far only signed Mason Mount from Chelsea but are still interested in a number of targets who are taking time to acquire. Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana has been on the verge of a move since last week, while Danish wonderkid Rasmus Hojlund’s move is on the cards.

However, Mount is only part of the plan in the middle of the park and Erik ten Hag is key to adding another midfielder to his options. A low-cost solution has presented itself as a possible deal that can be done before Monday.

Florence-based Sara Meini of Italian outlet TGR referred to the Calciomercato, claiming Sofyan Amrabat will join Fiorentina on Monday, but that Manchester United want to finalize a transfer for him before then.

The Moroccan shined at the World Cup as Atlas Lions became the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the competition. He probably would play double pivot with Casemiro.

Europa Conference League runners-up Fiorentina have reportedly paid a fee of around £26m for Amrabat. However, there is hope that he can be bought cheaper.

The deal would be a bargain for Ten Hag this summer, as his current outlay appears to be close to £180m for three players, if Holjund and Onana join Mount through goal.

Liverpool would also be interested in Amrabat.
