Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Andre Onana, who looks set to be Erik ten Hag’s second signing this summer.

A share is still under negotiation but there is optimism that a deal could be reached soon. The goalkeeper would arrive as the new number 1 after the departure of David de Gea.

Meanwhile, United are tasked with sacking some unwanted players to raise money for a much needed striker. Anthony Elanga is interesting for Everton, while Dean Henderson is in the process of making a permanent move to Nottingham Forest.

Alex Telles, Eric Bailly and Brandon Williams could also leave, while releases for Harry Maguire and Anthony Martial are not excluded. United are operating on a £120m budget amid financial fair play concerns, of which £55m has already been spent on Mason Mount.

United issues statement on Mount’s incident


United released a statement in response to a video circulating online in which Mason Mount was forced to sign autographs.

A video, initially uploaded to TikTok, shows Mount being harassed by a group of people who want him to sign United shirts. Mount, who completed his £60m move to Old Trafford last week, has kindly asked those following him to unfollow him.

Mount was overheard asking them why they “keep coming back” to get him to sign memorabilia and said he hasn’t signed them “in the last three days”.

According to Sport, Barcelona are trying to re-sign right-back Marc Jurado this summer.

It is claimed that the Catalan giants want to strengthen their B team. The players are set to be promoted to the first team and others are leaving which has sparked interest in Jurado.

According to the Mirror, Facundo Pellistri is close to signing a new contract at United before going on loan.

The Uruguayan World Cup star has made 10 senior appearances for the Reds and collected an assist on his debut against Charlton in the League Cup in January.

According to the report, Erik ten Hag is happy with what he has seen and would like to keep the youngster but is keen for him to develop his game at a club where he can gain more playing time.

The 21-year-old previously spent two 18-month loan spells at Spanish club Alaves between January 2021 and June 2022.

The clubs are yet to pay a final fee but United are confident of a breakthrough soon.
